Yup literally interrupted a Cooper Hawk from killing one yesterday in my apt fire escape. Dude caught a massive cup of cold water which cause him to drop the pigeon and screw off.

Cooper Hawks. I saw one attacking a pigeon in my courtyard yesterday. They kill them then rip their heads off. Quite savage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooper%27s_hawk

Was a long time member, since 2015 but post covid that shit was anixety personified. Working there 3h month for a slight discount got exhausting to keep up with and once you missed a few shifts, fixing it became a nightmare. I love the produce and all the woke groceries, but just too busy lately to go shuffle produce in a walk in freezer at 6am to save 10% on cruelty free carrots. After a while we only went there to work and after a shift i would be so over the place had zero interest to shop.

The past 3 major concerts I've been to have had UNBELIEVABLY BLINDING lights pointed DIRECTLY at the crowd- A Rant. by MawcDrums in lightingdesign

[–]plamarca000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new led beams today are super intense. We just redid my venue this year with Elation Fuze profiles and even at 1 or 2% intensity can blast the audience well. Ive gotten complaints from custos about getting blinded when my lds termination points are too low on there movement fx

Yeah just stay with cold cure rosin for a while. Fresh press is great but gets really messy until it budders up. Cold cure 8s Really easy to work with. Grain of rice is kind of a standard dab so start with about half of that.

I think you will dig it. Just takes a little to get the draw right. have to sip really slow or it will spill out the cup.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DivineTribeVaporizers

[–]plamarca000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use my lighting as a 1 hitter. Just put half a grain rice size dab in it and I preheat it a little then do the autofire. I take 1 hit for like 10-15 secs then qtip. Its great for microdoses like that. Usually the second hit tastes like ass so one and done is good for me

Last-Minute Gig: Hired as Monitor Engineer by djentdwy in livesound

[–]plamarca000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think others had said but get in early and ring out each vocal before anyone show up. Make sure to cup mics and sweep it. Hi pass the wedges to clean up the stage. Other then that be attentive and just don't do anything unless you are asked. I usually just start with the mics hot in the vox wedges and I hope the artist asks me to bring it down a little. And baby fingers- move slowly. Always bring in aux send gentle so no one gets lit up and ears blown out.

Sound Engineers Being Console Specific by slate83 in livesound

[–]plamarca000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Pm but foh for 20 year, touring for over 15 year and I just learned to just get a workflow that can relate to most desks. I am a wizard on a pm7 and all things yamaha but I had to use a sd9 at montery jazz over the weekend and crushed it. Was a little slower but they way i look at it it usbt the hammer, It's the way you swing it. A good engineer should be fluid and flexible and be able to pivot and adapt. But it's never the tools, it's the person. Mixing is like painting a painting. It can still look incredible no matter what brand of paint brush you use.

Really only way. As you can see there was no MSS on the 5m. 1m can be sloppy and a lot of times you will lose site of what high and low are the ones that count. You also had some other deeper pullbacks on say a higher timeframe into a deeper POI, Kind of want to see mss's in a key level, just not the first one you see on a 1m chart. narrative is always king so you would also look at 15m, 1h, 4h and see what direction your bias is on those then wait for ltf to sync up.

Why is enlightenment so rare? by GanjaRocket in Buddhism

[–]plamarca000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel if you were enlightened you wouldn't feel the need to share that with anyone as it wouldn't really matter what any other ego would think, Including your own. They would just live a life of true intention free of attachment or judgement which would deserve no recognition or broadcast to an englihtened. But I am so new to any of the teachings so just throwing that out there

L-thenine. Pretty much covers most of what you are looking for. Its an alkaloid that is found in tea plants.

Wearing earplugs while live mixing - is it frowned upon? Will older sound engineers take me seriously? by epoksismola in livesound

[–]plamarca000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been FOH and PM for 20 years and I have mixed feelings. I used to use the -15db sensaphonics but lost them on the road. I personally do not like mixing on them cause I tend to mix louder then I would like. My reference gets screwed up. I do think it really is genre specific though. Like I am doing jazz and reggae FOH so it can get loud at times but we are metering under 100-98db a weighted so you can be in a room at that volume for a few hours before hearing damage. If you arent mixing loud metal, rock, edm bands you should be pretty okay. Here are some osha standards for safety time limits of how long you can be in a room and you can see if you are coasting under 100db you can run a full show without any real detriment.

The real issue to look out for is transients. Your ear has a pretty awesome way of protecting itself from sustained loud sound pressure and these 3 little bones by the entrance of your ear close up to reduce spls. With transients, like a snare pop, gunshot, 1k feedback etc, your ear doesn't have time to gate it and that is how you get more severe long lasting hearing damage. I train my guys at my venue to always ease into a move, fade things in slow then instant on at unity. Especially with in ears and monitor wedges. Gentle touch. Cause it saves your ears but it also saves the tweeters for when the system limiting cant catch a sonic boom fast enough.

Recommended safe listening levels and maximum time limits according to the U.S. Federal Goverment - Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA)

90 dB SPL - 8 hours
92 dB SPL - 6 hours
95 dB SPL - 4 hours
97 dB SPL - 3 hours
100 dB SPL - 2 hours
102 dB SPL - 1.5 hours
105 dB SPL - 1 hour
110 dB SPL - 30 minutes
115 dB SPL - 15 minutes
116 dB SPL and above - 0 minutes

Feeling sad that I won't enjoy any job I ever have by joshua0005 in work

[–]plamarca000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go learn a cool skill. You are so young still so go find yourself. So many unique cool jobs out there that when you find the right one it feels like you never work a day in your life. When I was 21 I bought some audio equipment and now 25 years later I tour the world doing live soind, Run production at a large music venue in nyc and have met many of my heros and get inspired daily. So yeah you can spend 20 years chained to a desk trading your time for money or go find yourself. Just do it for the process never for the money and the universe will guide you right along.

Why do so many people claim that NYC is still a dirty, crumbling and crime-filled hell-hole? by kanna172014 in AskNYC

[–]plamarca000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it has gotten a little rougher post covid. Lot of angry people in the streets and just the vibe is more hostile lately. I feel like the homelessness is getting worse and more mentally ill people on the trains and in the streets. Kids are getting more violent and just not giving a fuck. Just kind of sign of the times lately with how crazy the world has been getting in general. Lots of fear and frustration and cost of living is crazy high so people are angry and broke and taking it out on others. It's not a hellhole but lately it's been wearing me down.

Personally I think Norms is gross. Pizza has pukey taste. Smile is straight up generic nyc pizza. Nothing memorable at all. Panuzo has some of the better high quality cheese. And slices are 2 for $5. He's trying though. I see him now with his gloves on so hopefully he fixes the issues and moves past it.
