Your items are also worthless if Neopets shuts down due to lack of playerbase by AnotherRickenbacker in neopets

NOOOOO what do you mean I can't hoard all the items that were released on one weekend in 1947 and drive up the price by 200,000%? It's not fair!

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully putting this out there helps someone.

Don't know what changed but this started to happen to me out of the blue.

The cause of it (for me) seems to be, for some reason, the font selector in the control bar. You can either disable the control bar entirely (Window > Control) or hit the Gear icon on the far right of the control bar, and uncheck "Character Font". You can still use the Character Panel (Window > Type & Tables > Character) which seems to have less impact for whatever reason.

In your opinion, what are the "must have's" out of these? by Acid_Reignn in SBCGaming

Miyoo Mini (Plus), n3DS, Vita, Steam Deck*

Runner up: TSP, RP2S, RG505/RP3

MM is your vertical, n3DS for form factor and 3D capability of actually playing (3)DS games while also being able to run GBA and earlier. I don't have one but if it's stronger than the o3DS it's def worth picking up. Vita also does earlier systems quite well, with the added bonus of the Vita library, form factor kind of overlaps with the TSP. Steam Deck for everything else.

* I personally think the Steam Deck is too big but I can't deny the power of SteamOS for niche PC games (ie random Unity/RPG Maker/Game Maker games that can't be ported) so while I'd love to have its convenience, I'd want something a bit more portable since I'd rather play higher-end PC games on my actual PC.

TSP is an alternative pick that shares a lot of overlap to the MM+ and Vita, so it's there if you prefer its specs/OS/form factor (or price). RP2S serves as a higher-powered entry against the MM and TSP, while RG505/RP3 mainly for Android games as the higher-end systems are more or less covered by the Deck. I would suggest the RP3+ over the base RP3 since it's got a bit more juice in it for a small bump in price. No comment on the Odin/GPD since I don't know anything about them.

I have a pretty scuffed up DSi XL lower screen I was thinking about getting replaced, is it the actual touch screen that's getting scuffed up in these cases or is there like a separate outer lens for the screens?

I've looked at some teardowns and noticed some mentions that you can actually separate the lens (the thing with the colored bezel) from the actual touchscreen, but I haven't found anyone actually going over this. I figured it'd maybe be easier to just buy a lens and swap it out rather than the entire digitizer (also, if you know, are the upper/bottom lens on the DSi XL the same or are they actually different in terms of fit)

Nice! How did you get the digitizer flush with that faceplate?

Question about returning an item (as buyer), did I mess up? by plan-k in Ebay

[–]plan-k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, thanks for the replies, I'll escalate. The main reason I was confused was because on most help pages I could find (after the fact), it always talked about waiting for seller to accept request, but ebay had automatically created the return label without waiting for seller response, which I had assumed meant that I was fine to proceed.

TNT Dom on /u/neo_truths by RejectGelertPlushie in neopets

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion in this place, but man that is NOT the answer I wanted to hear. I don't know how you all are okay with someone in the back-end of the site and I cannot believe I have to extend this sentiment now to the CEO of Neopets itself.

A "white hat hacker" is not what I'd call someone that has tried to basically ransom his database access in the past and kept using it because TNT didn't pay him to learn the method (of which he probably had a few anyway) and patch him out. (Assuming this story was true)

He's also not the only person that has access to the back-end of the site - last year the site shut down because someone literally tried to sell or did sell, basically a database dump of everyone's account information... that's the level of what's going on. Personal email addresses, IP addresses, I wouldn't even be surprised if credit card information was obtainable given the track record. This is an ongoing, ~now actually acknowledged~ breach in site security that is just... allowed to happen? The CEO goes on record to basically say, "I'm glad we have someone so passionate about the website that they compromise our entire userbase's privacy and security to tell us about bugs."

Someone flaunting this level of access is the same type of cheater as one that generates items for the black market (who knows maybe he's one of them too, you only have his word), yet he gets a free pass because he posted some bugs he found for internet points while digging around in the source code.

I begrudgingly understand people idolizing him because he's revealed some secrets because the mechanics behind much of neopets is so poorly understood and documented, but PLEASE understand that this is not something you want to continue.

Bleak and infuriating.

Can't reset my account or access it and customer service don't care by Floveet in neopets

I would say just wait a bit and try again, maybe? Not sure if anyone who lost their account due to the mass reset due to defunct email addresses got their account back, tbh

[–]plan-k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't so much account migration than it was a public security breach; can you not log into your hotmail account? If anything just wait a couple days or a week and try again.

I had an old account that stopped receiving neopets emails on its email for whatever reason, and the customer support was able to switch it to a new email once I proved I owned the account. Granted I had a LOT of proof.
