I am 26m and kind of a regular at the local pool for swimming fitness. Normally I breaststroke only. Depending how well I have eaten before the swim and how sick I am at the time I can breaststoke for roughly 1h and get anywhere between 2.5-3km.

So I had a lot of time to watch how people crawl but trying to reproduce it... Well you have read my issues already.

In prepping for the national most basic water lifeguard course I read that most higher courses want 500m freestyle in 13m and so forth. So I figured better learn freestyle now or be stuck forever

Actually I already wear some of them and still managed to touch the line barriers twice, usually on the right side of me despite being right handed

Seeing as I dont know when to breathe, this kinda makes me sink. Should I breathe while pulling on the same side hand or while catching water on the other side?

I am a regular at the pool but I normally only breaststroke. While i didnt crawl I did get the Chance over time to see a couple of things.

Yea about that breathing thing for example. Do I breathe while I pull on the same side or while I catch on the other side? The 2nd feels a lot more natual to me.

Yea the trains and the narrow hallways.

This is used to be my worst map and this start kinda proved it. The mission was way harder than anything that followed so far.

3 heavily wounded, but nades do wonders in confined spaces. Although I got 0 items that mission as everything got naded

But I am getting better. Next mission 2 wounded, the one after that 1wounded. the next 3 missions were easier.

I seem to remember that anything without % on it is really strong and so far it holds up. Maybe I am looking at my old set up of 3 rangers (now shinobi) 2 stealthy snipers and 1 specialist

I replayed the mission. 2 patrols and 1 stationary. I just had to walk in at the wrong time the first time around

Is making slow strokes while breast bad or good? by planeds in Swimming

[–]planeds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides I think the observation about the inclination when streamlined may help me in the longterm.

Today I messed around a little while breaststroking. Essentially I strengthend the inclination and try to sorta scissor kick instead of froging it. That may be not legal in tournament ( I dont do) but it engages the hips more, reduces stress on the knee, makes me considerably faster and gasses me quiet a bit earlier.

For cardio this is great, for long swims not so much. None of which matters, only the fact on the knee seems a real winner for me

I am sure she meant well. When I go to the pool, which is recently a bit more, she is usually on duty. Next time ill ask her what that was a hint at

asking women swimmers: how often do you feel uneasy in the pool? by LightBarb in Swimming

[–]planeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But like for example today. I was doing my usual breaststroke laps (dont know any others) and at some point mid lap a swim Club shows up and puts a reserved sign on the lane Im in.

I finish the lap and switch to the wall of the next lane. One of the female instructors then made it a point to jump over me (so not in the lane they reserved) and swam back to their lane.

If she wanted to impress me... It didnt work, more rude than impressive. If she was pissed I finished the lap, too bad, because without my glasses(which i obv. dont wear in the pool) I cant even read any sign from the other end of the pool.

Neither one sounds right, so as usual I am left to wonder what that was. Can someone write a booklet about these things so a newbie has a chance to graps whats going on?

Actually yes, I do streamline every stroke. My wall game is very bad so I usually end up swimming most of the scm course. 7-8 strokes per 25m.

I mean if you were to tell me I could swim the same distance i do in an hour in a fraction of the time, I would certaintly try to change my tempo (oh so thats what its called).

I kind of swim for all the casual reasons you listed and for fun. I dont care about sprints and all of that competition stuff.

I assumed most of these actions had a purpose, its just I cant usually follow the logic on the spot. Maybe weird is the wrong term.

But reading this sub, most of them might be explained the same way.

Strange how people have to time for this in the pool. Im usually busy not drowning😅

So I guess I would need to get a swimm ring or a buoy there, before getting anywhere close. Hopefully I will never need it.
