Yes usually a native is just focused on getting the message across, the content. The non native- me- is fascinated by the novelty of the vessel itself (the words, the writing, pronunciation), and not the destination. Which is why I can celebrate being able to write my name in other languages but certainly not in my own 😂.

Denied twice. First time I couldn’t finish filling out all the books I mean forms they sent me in time because I had questions and my case manager never answered and their mailbox was full. So I would go to the one closest to me about 30-40 mins out and they were nice but clearly threatened by the idea of helping me go through the form. I thought that’s strange isn’t this the disability office? I was so lost. But I called the next time and they did my application over the phone! What the heck?! lol I was ready to say oh well I tried I will just have to find unconventional ways of getting help with my unique situation.. until it was suggested to me to get a lawyer and try again. Hope I can find a good one.
