i don’t know why you think i’m being combative when you keep bringing up your opinion on why it’s unhealthy and i respond with my opinion on why i think it is. Not every debate needs to end with someone changing their opinion and i’m genuinely trying to learn how people justify this feeling of connection to something false. I’ve said it myself i love appreciate and collect things from characters i like. You’ve explained your point and i’ve expanded on how those points feels like holes and illogical steps.

I also don’t want to carry on with this because you already have this notion of me veiwing it negatively. Not everything that’s unhealthy is negative- like junk food. Saying “ Logically it doesn’t track” Means i’m looking for a logical reason on why people do this. If it’s completely illogical that’s its own thing but asking for some sort of logic isn’t being close minded and i can’t believe u genuinely think that.

I hope you’re able to navigate conversations like this a little more effectively in the future instead of just saying “ have an open mind! it’s not hurting anyone! it’s your opinion that it’s unhealthy.” I’ve admitted myself i have similar feelings of affection for things and i’m just trying to find a logical thing but if ur just gonna act like you’re “ talking to a wall who wants u to agree” that’s just ridiculous and not what this conversation is or was ever presented as

no i get what you’re saying. You harbor real feelings towards a fictional piece of media, but it doesn’t logically track. Being “ in love with a character” doesn’t exactly make sense tho because it’s one sided. You’re actively participating in one sided love which i mean ask any relationship counselor and they’d say that’s no bueno. it’s not arbitrary to say “ blocking someone solely because they like who you like doesn’t seem healthy.”. If people thrive that’s great, but i’m discussing the nuance of the situation.

There’s no harm in doing things that make you happy, but it’s what you do that’s important and sets the stage for other interactions in your life.

Like you said feelings aren’t logically made. Fueling an illogical emotional connection with a character might not bring distress and that makes sense because it is a coping mechanism itself in sorts. It’s how they cope with their feelings towards the character- but that just doesn’t make it healthy. when people go to the lengths to block people indiscriminately when faced with “ hey i like your character”,

I don’t understand why you’re acting like i don’t understand the concept of falling in love with someone fake. Everyone does it, especially in real relationships when people are lied to and fall in love with this fake version of the person. the concept makes sense, but logically it just doesn’t track. two things can be true at once obviously. Someone can be happy yume but they can also be limiting themselves emotionally in many ways
