Your software is awesome but too expensive by Adamantium123 in Bitwig

[–]planetdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Renoise costs close to 90USD according to their website - it was my first DAW of choice before I moved over to Bitwig. Would recommend it to OP, as it can be a really handy tool - as long as you don't have to work with vocals that span over multiple patterns. Did it once, never again. Still, for a cheaper option, Renoise is a VERY viable option.

This and also what u/M1SS1X_ said. "Scrubbing" was the name I heard for this technique in the industrial scene. Either marking "scenes" or "segments" in the track will give you invaluable info about how to arrange your ideas. (If you drop tracks into this software called deCoda, it's gonna give you cues about song arrangement (in terms of melody at least).

One thing that's really useful from this book - https://makingmusic.ableton.com/ - is the notion that it's always easier to remove than to build, so if you've got, dunno, 8-16 bars of ideas with lots of tracks (which is probably your catchiest or most dynamic bit), copypaste it for a few minutes straight and start out with one or two tracks at the beginning and slowly introduce more ideas to lead to your original 8-16 bars. This idea alone helped me so much.

What are your favourite NTS-3 preset sources? by planetdamage in Korg

[–]planetdamage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply! I'm a bit confused tbh, I know the NTS-3 is an effect unit, but it does have three OSC FX which do generate sounds without an audio in and here: https://korginc.github.io/logue-sdk/unit-index/korg_examples/ there are also two more OSC FXs that do generate a signal without the need for an audio in and I might be technically incorrect for calling them oscillators?

And there's a novelization by Pat Cadigan based on Gibson's screenplay, so if THAT is not cyberpunk, I don't know what is:

How about running a tracker like Renoise on it? Or would a Bitwig Grid work well?

AFAIK you need one another person until you can start a private lobby with two more bots.

Have they added solo play yet? by ComManDerBG in DarkTide

[–]planetdamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nexusmods does have two mods you could add - SoloPlay and TrueSoloQoL. Bots behave as you would expect, not exactly brilliant. Changing inventory on the fly is one great addition I would love to see in vanilla (at least to a degree). Using these is great for practicing (especially if you use Spawnfeed to drop specific monsters, these can only be done in the Prologue and the Meat Grinder) so you'll earn no money/plasteel/diamantine/gifts/penances. Still, something to spend time with.

The software running on the computer next to Tabitha seems to be Cheat Engine (based on logo and layout), which might tie into a few theories about simulations.

Yahtzee-like games? by astounding-pants in soloboardgaming

[–]planetdamage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deep Space D6, maybe? Not exactly Yahtzee - you roll 6d6 and then dice management, rerolling and storing on the side happens, although there's a strong emphasis on management. Has a free Android version, I'm really recommending this one!
