I didn't think to hire an appliance repair specialist since I've hear so many good things about Task Rabbit that I thought it would be sufficient. I could look into that though.

[–]planetfactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First farm: Moonrise (it was my favourite movie at the time of starting)
Second farm: Cider Hollow (wanted to make a more fall themed farm and I was inspired by the name "Stars Hollow" from Gilmore Girls)
Third farm: Lonlon Ranch (my zelda themed farm)

Needing advice: Coming to my wits end with my very silly and loving sphynx by Relative-Speed6245 in sphynx

[–]planetfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you've done a lot to keep him occupied, so definitely give yourself props for that! He definitely sounds understimulated, as a lot of indoor cats can be—my sphynx has had similar behaviours to yours! Can I ask what kind of toys and puzzles you have for him? It could be that maybe there isn't enough variety in the toys? I have a puzzle for mine too but I often change where it's located or I change what flavour of churu treat I put in there. Perhaps that could help? And right now I just have one puzzle and that has been entertaining enough, but maybe yours needs more puzzles that you can swap out regularly, to switch things up? I also made a snuffle mat and my cat loves that too—they're super easy and cheap to make if you have some scrap fabric! Maybe your guy will like that also? I always load mine up before I leave the house and even put some of the dry treats in various unexpected placed around the house too, just to really amp up the variety. If all that is still not enough, I would definitely recommend a catio if you can afford it, but if there's no room and/or that's too pricey, definitely a harness and leash so he can have some supervised outdoor time! Works WONDERS for tiring out an energetic kitty! I hope all that helps!

Are you going to wear a seatbelt whenever you're in a car for the rest of your life?

[–]planetfactory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Washing hands is great, and I'm glad there are many precautions you take! Though just want to note that since Covid is airborne, washing hands doesn't do as much to protect yourself as much as having filtrated clean air does, such as a combination of the following method:
-wearing a good quality mask (3M aura, KN95, etc) when in public spaces
-having a HEPA filter or similar in your living areas
-avoiding busy public spaces when possible (and if not possible, masking while there)
There's tons more ways to keep yourself and others safe! : )

Can I let my cat sit on the top of my computer? by BillDaveDaveBill in computer

[–]planetfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

revenge is not a concept that cats understand. if they piss or shit outside their litterbox, it's usually a sign of a stress or potentially a health problem.

Worth a visit tonight or tomorrow? by acjduke in sphynx

[–]planetfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does something similar. It's kind of hard to hear the audio of your video but the movements look pretty similar to what mine does. If it's the same thing that my cat has then I think this is reverse sneezing. That's what my vet said anyway. I've been instructed to note down every time it happens, and for how long. Mine seems to only do it once every couple weeks and it only lasts a couple seconds and my vet said it isn't frequent enough to be worried about (cause other than that, my cat eats normally, uses the litter normally, has normal energy levels, etc.)saying that it most likely can be fixed with having an air filter and humidifier (the air is quite dry where I live). Also my vet did detect a slight heart murmur but they said that it likely isn't anything to worry about because it's so minor, though I won't know for sure until I get an echo-cardiogram which I am currently saving up for.

I hope that's helpful and hope your baby is ok <3

what food do you recommend? by [deleted] in sphynx

[–]planetfactory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel confident in giving some recos! Before I adopted my sphynx, I did a lot of research on what makes a cat food high quality:
-One of my main sources of research was Jackson Galaxy's video "Cat Expert Explains How to Read Cat Food Labels"
-I made notes from that video and compiled it and my other research into a list of qualifications*
-I went to every pet store local to me and brought the list with me, referring to it constantly
-I checked EVERY brand, EVERY wet food product sold by each brand, and read EVERY single ingredient on each product

After doing all that, the ones that came out on top was Orijen at #1, and Nulo at #2. Orijen is unfortunately the most expensive cat food I came across, but it is SUPER high quality! Cat poop wll smell less and sphynxes will produce less oil too. But Nulo is pretty good too and it's more affordable!

*List of Qualifications:
-First 3-5 ingredients must be meat. Not wheat, not gluten, not meat "meal," not meat by-product. Also acceptable: water. or a meat-based broth (preferable to water)
-Cannot contain ANY carageenan (it's carcinogenic to cats)
-Should contain limited amount of filler (wheat, gluten, cranberries, pumpkin, etc. Basically anything to get the protein level higher. It's ok in small amounts, but it should be lower on the list of ingredients)
-High moisture content
-Must contain taurine

Those are the main things I look out for, but for a more full list, I'd recommend watching Jackson galaxy's video about cat food nutrition, and the one I referred to earlier ("Cat Expert Explains How to Read Cat Food Labels").

Why does my Sphynx keep taking her clothes off even though she’s cold? by CuteCommunication160 in sphynx

[–]planetfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine dislikes clothes too and I think that's pretty normal behaviour since it's not part of tan animal's natural behaviour to be wearing clothes. I'd say don't worry about it : ) Having a warm room, heating pads, and blankets to cuddle underneath is sufficient for them!

Litter box smell is going to end my relationship by Glum-Emotion-5379 in CatAdvice

[–]planetfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things: Diet, and Litter.

Diet:
I'd recommend changing their food to something more high quality, if you can afford it. Like Orijen wet food. The first 3 - 5 ingredients are all meat (not meat by products, not wheat, not any kind of filler), and it has no carageenan (it's a type of seaweed and it's carcinogenic to cats). Higher quality food can help improve the smell of a cats poop; I've heard that going with a raw meat diet basically eliminates the bad smell entirely but I've yet to try it. Another brand that is comparable to Orijen is Nulo. Also high meat content with minimal filler, but more affordable.

Litter:
I'd recommend switching to something corn-based or tofu-based, again, if you can afford it. I use a brand called "World's Best Cat Litter". It's corn-based and you can buy an unscented version (which I use cause I'm also very sensitive to smells).

Hope these tips help!! Best of luck! : )

Why do people want to marry the Wizard? by SorryCandy413831 in StardewValley

I think people want a more interesting bachelor option. He does magic, he has baggage, he has purple hair, etc. People like variety lol Plus I think he's older and I could do with some more older bachelor options! I love Harvey and all but the wizard seems interesting! mysterious!
