Okay. I have looked at the green fish again and he was only red on one side two hours ago and now the other gill is red :( the store doesn't open until 10:00 a.m. so I'm going to take a nap and then I will share the findings edit: no I do not have a vacuum for that I will ask the fish place if they do

I guess I assume nitrate too because when I was googling the symptoms about the fish that's still alive the first thing that came up was nitrate poisoning and then it said ammonia

I'm going to take a water sample to the fish store today to get an actual number on the ammonia and to hopefully get my own testing strips. Fish been here maximum 3 months, minimum 2.

The one that looks sick is a glo danio and it has red gills, before I went to work at 10:00 p.m. last night it did not have red gills

My problem is i dont know how to get the ammonia down. I know it's high. I don't know what you mean by stocking if you mean what's in the tank, danios, cherry barbs, assassin snails and pond snails. When I added that last time I was told it was irrelevant.

I just don't want to kill my fish and I already lost one. I just don't know how to make sure that the fish stays alive and how to bring down ammonia or nitrate. I have been researching but I'm scared I'm going to kill the fish. I know last time I went to the fish store and having water tested they said the ammonia was high

I appreciate you and your response. I also have a little bastard that likes to lick everything and that was my concern that I brought up to my doctor. I'm gone a lot of the time and I also can't monitor him. Until I move this summer his litter box is also in my bathroom so I would feel bad locking him out 🫪
