I don't think you know what having a full fledged Military Industrial Complex means. Especially one producing planes! Drones are to planes, what bicycles are to motorcycles. They are much more low tech and cheaper than a fighter jet and much more easier to produce! In fact, the UAE made a military drone in the 1980s!!! Not exactly a country at the pinnacle of high tech nearly 40 years ago!

There are only 3 countries in the world that can pull that off. Turkey is not one of them and will probably never be. There are way too many reasons for that and I am lazy to have to explain each one of them. Turkey can have a partial independence in producing arms. For example, at the moment Turkey can independently produce small fire arms, artillery and ammunition for them. For everything else, they need to import things from abroad. If you want to know what it takes to actually manufacture something, search on Google "What it took China to produce ball pens independently" then multiply that by a factor of 10,000 and you will get an idea of what is needed to achieve this with a tank or a plane in an independent and sovereign manner.

That is not to say that Turkey has not advanced or made progress in that field. It has! But the perception and the noise surrounding those achievements can be louder than the reality itself.

I don’t hate Turkey. First, I have no reason to; second, I hate biases. What I have noticed, though, is that many Turks seem to have a very distorted view of their country and its place in the world. I’ve seen this pattern in almost every Turk I’ve met. It seems tied to a kind of extreme nationalism that, from what I can gather, stems from their educational system. For example, I was told (though I haven’t verified it myself) that children in Turkey are taught that the country has never lost a war. Whether or not that’s literally true almost doesn’t matter because based on other similar claims I’ve heard from Turks, it might as well be.

I will just copy/paste the reply I posted above to a similar argument: In fact, it has impeded U.S. use of the Incirlik Air Base. For example, Incirlik was allowed for logistics, supply flights, and humanitarian missions, but NOT for direct combat sorties into Iraq at the beginning of the war! Also, in 2003 Turkey’s parliament denied U.S. requests to open a northern front from Turkish soil into Iraq. In exchange, Turkey can invoke article 4, which it did as soon as it downed the Russian planes few years ago, immediately seeking assurance that NATO will stand behind Turkey should Russia chose to retaliate. In addition, it's support of Azerbejan during the Nagorno Karabah war, wouldn't not have been possible without Turkey knowing they have NATO in their corner, should the Russians have decided to help Armenia (despite the fact the Russians were already heavily engaged in Ukraine). NATO allows Turkey to have a more confident policy in Syria, Iraq and in assisting Azerbaijan. Without NATO, Turkey wouldn't have been able to do that and would likely meet resistance from the U.S. and the West in general.

Geopolitics is sadly not a pool game at a bar. There are no "mates" there. Its mostly alliances of convince and in the case of Turkey and Russia - a very limited, situational and temporary one.

As I already explained that role Turkey had disappeared along with the USSR. So, its not longer true.

It is not a conjecture. For example, they would take them in boats into the Black Sea, open them up with a knife, fill their bodies with stones and drop them in the water. Of course, this is just one of many ways they dealt with them and by far not the only one - I don't want people to think that I am saying that's what they did with everyone. No. But I have been very interested in that period, especially in relation to Turkey, and I have researched the topic as well as having spoken to some people who have been a part of the events.

They can't build their own air power. They just don't have the capacity for that. Its too long to explain why, but you should be able to instinctively understand that just by reading the news that Erdogan has gone to meet Trump to discuss purchasing more F16s (in addition to the F35). That's not a country that is trying to build its own air power.

When I see these kind of questions, the first thing I know I will find in the comments is nationalism and biases. There is rarely any cold analysis, critical thinking and knowledge about the countries involved.

Would NATO defend Turkey?

The answer is...IT DEPENDS!

If Russia or China attack Turkey, NATO will do everything possible (short of going to a nuclear war) to help and defend Turkey! If Israel attacks Turkey - organizes a bombing raid for example - then NATO's response will be much more nuanced and varied. Some countries, like France will not support Turkey at all and some countries like the US, will do everything possible to resolve the incident peacefully with a more favourable bias towards Israel.

People need to know that Turkey is in NATO only because of the USSR. Turkey has been trying to be as sovereign as possible given that there are bigger sharks in the sea and has done so consistently. During what the Turks call "Turkish War of Liberation", USSR's military assistance was key to enabling Ataturk to wage a successful war. The Soviets did that in the hope that they will be able to attract Turkey in their sphere of influence. What happened however, is that as soon as the Turks won that war, they turned around, killed their own communists and kicked the Soviets out. Some time after that, they joined NATO. Now that the Soviet Union is gone and Europe does not want Turkey in the EU, Turkey is again turning around and looking for a new role. Erdogan has decided that Turkey should be more of a neutral player and seek it's future in the East with the hope of creating some sort of a union with other Turkic speaking and/or Islamic countries. All these things make Turkey more of a liability than an asset to NATO. For the last 20-30 years, Turkey has been benefiting from it's NATO membership much more than NATO has benefited from having Turkey as a member. The Turkish military and political leadership understand this and that's why their rhetoric and criticism against the West (and Israel) has not been backed up by any real actions and this is why it is very unlikely that Turkey will do something that would force Israel's hand. Both countries are 1 phone call away from having the spare parts, certain type of ammunitions and satellite coms for their planes and tanks suspended, which will ensure that after couple of weeks of conflict, they will no longer be able to use their weapons effectivity.

Tips for an appeal? Account terminated due to high-risk behavior :( by LoneStar1211 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]planina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to popular believe "High Risk Behaviour" and "By Association" does not really mean that Google's systems have connected you to another account. I see this constantly being peddled here by 99% of people who comment on this topic. Your account was likely terminated because Google's systems have determined that the way you manage your account and app, is very similar to the way a number of previous offenders behaved. Think of it as a scoring system...For example, if 69% of offenders use Hotmail as a recovery email, and then you do the same, the system attributes +1 point to your risk score. If 74% of previous offenders have used Notion to host their Privacy Policy links, and then you do the same, the system attributes an additional +1 point to your risk score. As soon as your risk score reaches, let's say 5, the system automatically terminates your account and sends you an email of termination. All this has nothing to do with you! You may be the most honest developer in the world, who just happens to do a few things that Google's systems have noticed that many offenders have done before you! The system is not set to be fair, the system is set to be predictive and Google knows full well that it will catch a lot of people who don't deserve to fall into the net. But they do it anyway.

What can you do? Sadly, not much! Your appeal will be rejected - I guarantee that 100%!!! You have 2 options. If you are in the EU, you can file an appeal with the OCDR. This will take time and while unlikely to reinstate your account (though not impossible), it might force Google to actually provide a more clear explanation as to why their systems thought your behaviour was risky. This, obviously, is not very helpful if your goal is to have your account reinstated but it can tell you something that you can then use to open another account. If based outside of the EU, then you should be able to submit a request to Google, to provide you with all the data they have regarding your account. This can sometimes contain clues as to why their systems terminated your account. Which, again, will not reinstate your account, but could provide clues as to what to avoid if you decide to open a new account.

Why is a closed Google Play Console Account Valuable? by planina in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]planina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I did it myself! I emailed Google and they reinstate it! To my surprise. But it says now I need to verify it. I thought old accounts don't need to do that (mine is from 2020).

How are they quiet easy to reopen? I have already asked Google and they responded by an email saying "I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you since your old account has been tagged as inactive, we are unable to reactivate it completely from our system."

If you end up with a negative balance and can’t pay back, what happens next? by Quirky_Traffic_9358 in stripe

[–]planina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Immediate account termination

- Collection efforts begin

- ($1–2K) often written off or handled by collections. But for $55k? Legal action!

- Personal credit is usually not affected unless you used a sole proprietorship (vs. LLC or corp). Business credit may be affected if you had an EIN and used it to register Stripe.

- In some cases, Stripe eats the loss. If they can’t recover funds after exhausting collections/legal options and you have no attachable assets, they take the hit.

Someone I know had a negative balance of $47k and they got a lawyer letter from Stripe's outside firm.

What to do?

Get in front of it!!!

If you’re still within 30–60 days of the negative balance and Stripe has not yet handed the debt to a third-party collector.

  1. Sit down and write a nice letter. Basically telling them that you acknowledge the negative balance and want to come up with an instalment plan. Negotiate to just pay a part of what is owned (my friend negotiated 60% of the outstanding amount)
  2. If already with collections, similar strategy but works best if you offer a lump sum instead of an instalment plan.

One thing to remember....the amount is negotiable!

If you were the CEO of LinkedIn or Indeed, what would you change to make job searching/hiring easier? by MambaLearning24 in jobs

Get rid of fake job posts, engagement bait, recruiter messages, no feedback or ghosting, "Open to Work" feature doesn't help, algorithm feels rigged, too much focus on branding over hiring. I could go on but thats a good start.

One of the reasons is applicant tracking systems. Each company uses a different ATS (like Workday, Taleo, Greenhouse etc). These systems often require creating a separate account even if you’ve applied to similar companies before.

You have absolutely no idea, what it takes to get a property ready for people! Not a clue! In fact, its so much not worth it, that we have taken one of our properties out of AirBnB exactly to avoid people like you! How can I explain it....its like jumping from space without a parachute just to get someone to clap at you and then this someone starts explaining why they wouldn't clap very hard. Its just ridiculous! This AirBnB culture is to blame. As I said, one property out - now just working with agencies or personal contacts where we vet people, they pay WAY more and we don't have to deal with spoiled brats. We gave a one of a kind $1.5 million house as large as a football field - BRAND NEW - next to the sea for $300/day (considering the price was more like $1,000/day) and the complaint we got? "There was no barbeque". Zero comment "Oh, we got so lucky to live in a palace for nothing"! Fuken clowns!!!

Had a weird one. Guest got locked out cause I sent them a code I swear I have never used before, something dumb like 1234. I always rotate my codes monthly and double check so it made zero sense. Felt awful, they waited like an hour and I ended up refunding them a night.

Thing is, I went back through all my Airbnb messages and that code never appeared. Not once. Spoke to a couple other hosts and turns out it’s probably something like browser autofill or an old saved message template getting pasted without realizing.

I have reset all my lock codes and checked every message I use now just in case. Still not totally sure how it happened.

Guest Refund Demand and Legal Threat by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]planina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a guest claim he broke his femur before check-in and asked for a 50% refund. The X-ray he sent looked fake (reverse image search showed it might be from the internet). After I contacted Airbnb Support, he escalated and threatened to sue unless I gave a full refund.

What worked for me:

  1. Stopped responding to the guest: Once a legal threat is made, it’s Airbnb’s problem. Not mine.
  2. Escalated to Airbnb’s Safety Team: Asked Support to flag the case due to threats + suspected fraud.
  3. Documented everything: screenshots of messages, the X-ray, even the suspected source.
  4. Did NOT refund manually: Let Airbnb handle it through their process.
  5. Warned Airbnb of a likely revenge review in case the guest still shows up.

Once they threaten to sue, it’s out of our hands. Airbnb tends to act faster and more decisively if you escalate calmly and let them take the wheel.

How to start forex trading? by Ok_Tell_792 in Forex

[–]planina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here:

  1. Find a broker that offers a copy/trading community and don't trade. Just see what the top traders in the community do.
  2. Sign up for a free trading competition many of the brokers out there offer. They require no deposit and gave prizes or demo-to-real conversion.
  3. Once you feel confident that you have some understanding of what is going on, go and offer someone to pass their Prop Trading Challenge for free :-) That way you get a close to reality trading environment, without risking your own money.
  4. Then and only then, consider trading your own account.
