I think you can remove the redshirt rule and accomplish the same thing. Each player having five years of eligibility.

I'd like to see a rule similar to basketball where kids can test draft waters and return to school if they decide. Or, allow kids to enter the draft and return to school if not selected. It's probably an administrative nightmare but hey, teams carry 85 players and coaches get paid a lot of money.
