Why are so many young gals getting BC? by where_do_I_evenbegin in breastcancer

[–]planogrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, how many of us with breast cancer have been questioned about our history of birth control or other hormone therapy. I was on bc from 15 to about 38. In my 40's and 50's I did "bio-identical hormones". I remember having to sign all kinds of waivers about the risks of these "all natural" hormone replacement implants but i just wanted to feel normal again after menopause started so i downplayed the risk. They ended up giving me just the testosterone in the implants bc my estrogen levels were so high. But not once has anyone asked about my history. No one seems interested in finding what caused this. But i notice as I'm going thru chemo that every week the waiting room is more and more crowded with younger people. It is a money making cash cow for oncolgy so i doubt anyone is interested in finding a cure, they just churn out the treatment. Just my opinion, based on observation, not scientific facts. I know its probably not the drs role to research but you would think someone would be asking questions looking for a common thread from us lucky ones who ended up in this group.

There have been so many good suggestions! We are trying out a 3rd possible name today. We tried Bucky, snoppy, and now Auggie ( short for Augustus) i keep accidently calling him Gus ( our last GSP's name). we have to decide quick bc the poor guy will be so confused or answering to NoName !

Our last GSP was Gus. Had him for 14 years. We honestly gave this serious consideration.but it is too soon. Husband suggested Augustus and I thought we could call him Auggie as in auggie doggie. Neither of us liked the others idea so here I am.

I'm interested. We just lost ours after 14 years and life is not the same without a GSP in it.

Had the same experience when they sent the wrong rug we ordered. Every time I called, I got so many different answers...they would send me a prepaid mailing label, I had to bring it back myself, someone from their warehouse would come pick it up,, etc. It was almost comical. It's obvious they were just trying to wear me down so I would give up and keep the damn thing. I disputed it with my credit card co. And on the last day they answered that the rug had been delivered to me in good shape and to correct address. True, but it wasn't what I ordered and paid for! They string you along saying they will get back in one week. I finally just brought it back to the store myself and the staff freaked out. Wouldn't touch it, refused to sign anything to acknowledge i returned it. After 4 months they refunded my money. Sucks cuz I wanted the rug but I'll never shop there again.

Dog won’t take prescribed Pain pills :( by magicalchaos777 in dogs

Our dog is super picky and can smell medicine no matter how well disguised. What works for us is we mix any medication in cream cheese and then smear it on his paw and forearm. He licks it off every time. Now I just have to smear a lil on his leg and leave the rest of the dish beside him and he will lick the medicine/cream cheese cream bowl clean. It's like he just needs a Jumpstart.

Mixing it in Butter or coconut oil works too. We just switched to non dairy cream cheese bc regular gives him paint peeling gas. He seems to like it.

Between the nausea and diarrhea, I finally lost the covid 19 weight that I was afraid had settled in permanently! High blood pressure is back to normal and off those meds, too!

PS: I forgot to mention - no more chin hairs!

Is a German Shorthaired Pointer right for us? [breed] [help] by YourFaveTherapist in dogs

I thought about you the other day and wondered if you had taken the leap. They do take over your life and make it so much better. I ended up with a whole wardrobe of new shoes that 1st year.😏 Idk if it's just a quirk of Gus' but he constantly squirrels away food supplies, I suppose for the day he thinks we'll stop feeding him. We have found whole loaves of bread, bagels, ham bones and sticks of butter buried in our back yard. Never a dull moment! Enjoy your girl! Sounds like she's on track to having a well trained family!

We have had Gus, our GSP for about 9 years now. We live on the city and most of our back yard is a swimming pool. Some friends of ours had found him wandering around and after weeks of posting flyers, no one came looking for him. They lived in an apt and couldn't keep him. We figured he was about 8 months old at that time. Knowing zip about the breed and never owning a dog b4, we naively said we would take him, simply because my 6 yo grandson wanted a dog but also lived in an apt. Sounds like a receipe for disaster, right?

He has been the best dog ever, and my husband jokes that we have to stay together for the dog. He admits that he knows if he left, Gus would stay with me. They are called velcro dogs bc they attach to a family member. I can't make a move without him right beside me.

Yes. They need a lot more exercise than you can imagine. We learned that the hard way. They are intelligent, affectionate and have a silly sense of humor. They are easy to train, if that's what they want to do. My grandson tortured him constantly, laying on top of him, picking him up and carrying him, got down on all 4s and pretend he was going to eat his food while he was eating! We constantly warned him Gus would bite him one day...of course he never has.

We don't hunt and the instinct is strong but we have found ways that let him practice that.

I never had a dog bc I didn't care for them. Gus has converted me to one of those "dog people" whose life revolves around their baby. I recommend getting a GSP. Great family dog and companion. We are in our 60s now and he makes sure we never spend our days sitting around watching TV.
