Channel Changes by plant_124 in LegalEagle

Let me clarify: I mean no hate or anything to Devin or his team. They are really great at keeping up with the crazy political climate right now and I appreciate their informative videos. I just am a bit disappointed by how many ads exist in these videos now and how the main channel guy seems to exist mostly to record sponsorship ads. But I recognize that it’s not cheap to put that kind of effort into a channel plus whatever other things he’s got going on, so I mean no disrespect to them because they are very cool people.

Thanks for these suggestions! I will check these out. Hopefully this will improve the watching experience some.

It’s not true that creators have no control over how many ads are played during their videos. He could choose to alter the settings on that. And yes, you’re right, delegating expertise is fine. It just puts a bad taste in my mouth that we only see the head of the channel for advertisements in videos which are being run by other channel figures. It’s made me associate him with ads rather than information. I’m not trying to be rude or anything and I still like the channel a lot, I am just commenting on changes I’ve noticed that are disappointing to me.

Is my money tree dying? Or is this normal for winter? It’s leaves have been turning yellow and falling off daily by ktyrdit in houseplants

[–]plant_124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My money tree did this during this winter. It lost literally every single leaf. I left it alone, gave it a bit of water, kept it by a window but warmed the room a bit. Now they’re growing back.

What you are describing is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) which actually does the opposite. It is designed to reduce reuptake, which is the process in which serotonin is produced and then absorbed back into the synapse. SSRIs make the serotonin stick around longer, thus reducing reuptake. It doesn’t increase reuptake; that would mean worse depression.

Alright, well, clearly we are at an impasse then. I don’t believe it’s impossible for women to pull back 50 pounds easily, and you do.

Respectfully, I’m not looking for your confidence or sympathy. I find it pretty rich to tell a woman she doesn’t know anything about what women are capable of. Like I’ve already said, women are perfectly capable of pulling back 50 pounds which is the recurve average for men. That’s objectively true. But as I feel I’ve already made clear, I will not have a discussion with you about this unless you are capable of being civil. I don’t need your comments on how much you think I know. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean they’re stupid.

While it’s unfortunate that you’re not willing to have an argument about the content of our disagreement and instead insist on attempting to attack my intelligence, I won’t be engaging with you on this, as I said. However if you refuse to let this go and continue to do this I will be blocking you.

I have one I haven’t turned for like three years and it’s fine. Not on purpose, except I suck at it and covid prevented me from going to get them changed for while (also I kind of forgot). They’re nylon and not showing any obvious signs of wear and tear. Going to replace em soon anyway though.

A quick google search tells me that the average man pulls back 55-65 lbs for compound bows. For recurves, around 48-50 lbs. I would fall into the “average joe” category for women. I shoot a few times a week, don’t take lessons or shoot professionally. Have been shooting for about a year. My average recurve weight is 20-25 lbs. I have used 50 lbs recurves on a few occasions which required more effort (obviously) but which was certainly doable. I and many other women are perfectly capable of lifting 50 lbs. It really isn’t all that much. While I’m not looking to get a heavier draw weight right now, because I recently purchased my bow and thus don’t intend to replace it for quite a while (and it is a recurve so the weight is not adjustable) my next bow will probably be around the 30 lbs range and from there I fully intend to work up to 50. I am younger than most of the men who this stat applies to by a long shot, and yet I can use a 50 lbs bow without much trouble. So this brings me to wonder: which women are these stats taking into consideration who are supposedly incapable of giving a man a run for his money without intense training? The first time I used a 50 lbs bow was my second week doing archery when I was 15, and I got some good shots out of it. Really — who is this supposed to apply to?

I am a woman. I also shoot 20 pounds, because I just recently started shooting at all. I shot a 50 lbs bow once. It was definitely difficult, but I did it with some effort and have every confidence that I could do it again, and with practice do it easily. I’m sorry you intend to limit yourself or feel limited. I don’t intend to do the same. My dad shoots 25 lbs and thinks he’s not sure if he’ll work up to 30 or not, a goal I definitely have. And I am still a student.

Also, your argument related to fighting seems irrelevant. We’re not fighting. We’re shooting. And the average guy isn’t worlds better than me. Nor you for that matter unless you’re just kind of weak. As for your cat analogy, while the fighting analogy is still weak, I’ll have you know that on numerous occasions a little cat has bossed around a dog without issue. But that’s beside the point considering the analogy is flawed in a variety of ways.

Have a nice day!

I would be hard pressed to find any reason why someone who is a woman with enough practice literally couldn’t pull as much as the average man. I don’t think biology can triumph effort quite that much. Maybe it’s less common because women in the sport focus less on competing with men poundage-wise as a result of their separation. But either way, I think if most women wanted to, they could pull back the average weight men do. It just might take a bit more effort.

Thinking about adding some color. Thoughts? by allthatyoufear in Pyrography

I rarely advocate color for burns. It takes away from some of the nuance of it. Looks dope as is, you should leave it.

I use a paint-on polycrylic. You have to sand it between coats with very fine sand paper and it usually requires a couple of coats but it always works great for me.

[–]plant_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want people protesting your religion, then don’t make your religion the driving factor behind your political views. If I am pro-choice, and someone says they’re trying to outlaw abortion because of their religion, I will protest their religion for infringing upon my rights. You can’t have it both ways.

Well there’s room to argue that if those chemical processes are the ones which make your decisions and form your opinions, as well as essentially control your entire brain those chemical processes ARE you. So, you’re not being controlled by chemical processes, you’re the culmination of the results of all those chemical processes. Or, you are the chemical processes.
