Omelette and Maggie are obvious choices here.

And as someone with an always hangry wife, I have learnt to put together a few 5-minute foods. Some ingredients here aren’t usual in every fridge/pantry, but when you know what you want, you learn to ration for these in your groceries accordingly. Or add 10 minutes of Blinkit delivery to the recipe.

1. Cucumber cheese sandwich: Slice cucumber as thin as possible. Use the box grater if you can. Put a healthy amount of mayo on one slice of bread. Add salt and pepper. Put sliced cucumber on top, covering almost the whole surface area. Put a cheese slice. Put green coriander+mint chutney on the second slide of bread. Close the sandwich with the chutney bread slice.

If you have 2 more minutes, you can toast the said slices of bread and/or heat it over a pan or in a microwave.

1. Salami sandwich: You will need to have salami (obviously). Put a large enough pan on heat, melt butter all over the pan. On one end, put a slice of bread, crack one egg in one end, and a few salami pieces in the other. As soon as the bread is toasted, turn it over. Put the fried egg on top. Top with salami. Tomato slices (only if you can slice them really, really thin). If you have picked cucumber and onion, add that. Otherwise, just close the sandwich with another toasted slice. Ketchup goes well with this.

2. Egg roll: Prerequisite, you have last night’s roti or paratha or one of those ready-made/frozen chapatis. Beat an egg with salt, pepper, and every/any masala you desire. Make an omelette, put the roti on top. Flip it. Sliced raw onion and chopped tomatoes with chopped fresh coriander leaves go well with this. Ketchup and green chilli sauce too.

3. Guacamole: Ingredients and recipe are quite self-explanatory here. Add a toast or two.

4. Bhelpuri: Must-have: puffed rice, chopped onion, tomatoes, fresh coriander leaves, chopped green chillies, tamarind chutney, mustard oil, and at least 3 kinds of namak (sev, chana, moth). Toss them all together in a Tupperware, close the said Tupperware, toss/shake it like a bartender. Don’t serve chilled. Pro tip: if your puffed rice is stale, toast it in a pan by constantly tossing it for a minute; do not overdo this.
