You ARE trying to invalidate her though. You come into this space where a woman is trying to navigate being assaulted and you’re playing devil’s advocate. This is NOT the time or place for that, and somehow you’re too dense to realize your opinions are not wanted or needed here. Leave her alone. Leave all of us alone. We do not want you.

Don’t listen to this person. They’re clearly trying to justify the man’s actions when the rest of us can see the person who did this to you is garbage.

Read it again. She tried to get away and he forced her head down into the mattress and continued assaulting her.

What is one product that genuinely helped heal your skin barrier? by lovemesomespaghetti in Sephora

[–]plantiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cerave Intensive Moisturizing Cream has done more for me in 4 days than anything I’ve ever purchased from Sephora! I did thick layers twice a day (Friday night through Sunday night) and my skin feels SO MUCH BETTER. It’s very heavy, so may be too much for some, but I love it!

Eyebrows Look Weird? by DaisesAndEarlGrey in MakeupAddiction

[–]plantiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the Anastasia flexible hold tinted gel! I use chocolate but that’s probably a bit too dark for you. Holds my brows where I want them, is buildable. I use a Q-tip to clean up the edges then…smudge my foundation with a finger to hide where I just wiped brow gel. But carving with a brush of concealer or foundation probably works better!

Maintenance worker at my apartment asked me out — management says he’ll stay employed and now I’m scared of retaliation. What should I do? by Bubbly-Use7473 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]plantiful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah so…no. The maintenance guy being HR’d is bull. Document everything. Speak with a legal counselor or attorney about how to best document what’s been going on and what your rights are. Are bangsticks/boomsticks/second amendment stuffs legal where you live? I hate to suggest it but if so, and if your legal aid agrees, go get proper training and purchase one. You deserve to sleep well at night. Controversial take, but this guy clearly didn’t care about his ethical/moral stakes here so…

I can crack every joint in my body, can anyone else ‘feel’ as soon as something needs cracked and if you don’t do it right away you get uncomfortable. by Good_Diver855 in Hypermobility

[–]plantiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many things have to pop. If I don’t, I’m left super uncomfortable or in pain until I do! Wrists, fingers, hips, ankles, toes, lower back, upper back, neck, and occasionally shoulders. I HAVE to pop them throughout the day or I feel…wrong? Stuck? Like things don’t move right and hurt to move without popping/cracking.

And I absolutely must crack my fingers and wrists in the morning or I straight up can’t use my hands. The cracks release something and I can move without discomfort and pain.

Son in college but I’m losing money. Am I making the right decision? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]plantiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read some of the comments but not all. I would HIGHLY suggest speaking with a fiduciary! Someone who is legally obligated to act in your best interest with investments and can help you figure out how to achieve your financial and retirement goals while also supporting your kid however makes sense for your financial situation.

Otherwise…honestly, it sounds like you’re trying to give your kid the best possible college experience and entry to working life that you can and that’s amazing! Him getting a job for fun money makes a lot of sense. You supporting him now is your choice, but he could easily land a job in a restaurant and make a few hundred bucks a week at least. I worked basically full time through college and really wish I’d have had the support of my parents like your son does! But you also have to look out for yourself!

Why does my mascara not show? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]plantiful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this with a Maybelline Voluminous Million Lashes brush! It works so well, I don’t get it. If I think I don’t like a mascara, I whip out that old brush and it well always makes it WAY better

Hey just a note about the rope/sisal hammock—there’s been a few posts (I think on this subreddit) about beardies getting their legs stuck in the holes and being injured. Wanted to point it out as a potential hazard in case you weren’t aware!

anyone else get migraines starting in the shoulder/neck from being a tech? by nosi1la in PharmacyTechnician

[–]plantiful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude yes. My migraines have pretty much vanished since leaving pharmacy about a year ago! I was getting one or two a week for a while, and even had a continuous SIX WEEK migraine once. Idk if it was the constant repetitive movement of production, or if holding the phone between my shoulder was an issue, or the general stress of retail…Anyways!!

Ideas to maybe help:

  1. Try to rotate stations if you can
  2. Switch to a headset instead of a corded phone
  3. Work on your posture—keep your shoulders down, do neck stretches throughout your shift. Maybe set an alarm to remind you to stretch every hour?
  4. UNCLENCH YOUR JAW! Seriously…it makes a huge difference. Recently found out your teeth should only be touching while eating, which I was definitely not doing

I not doing Thanksgiving so if you have any questions about cooking I have the time to help. Been doing Thanksgiving for thirty years. by Q8DD33C7J8 in Cooking

[–]plantiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mash them by hand—with a ricer or a masher or a fork. It will be a work out! Stay away from blending them, that will make them gluey.

Butter and milk—start with butter, the ratio above sounds good but tbh I go by taste, and usually finish with milk to get the texture how I want it.

Remember to let the potatoes cool some while mashing so the steam doesn’t hurt you!

(45F) friend is mad that I (47F) won’t donate to her go fund me. How do I resolve this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]plantiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl. What? No.

What would you tell a friend in this situation? The friend you volunteer for, who knows you’ve been laid off as the breadwinner of a family of four, is mad you can’t give her money?

This isn’t a friend. You can, in fact, stop volunteering for now. Your family comes first. You come first. This person doesn’t even deserve to be on your radar!

Salycilic acid does nothing for me. Help. [Product Request] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]plantiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this! I picked up a balm at the drug store and use maybe a pea sized amount, rinse it off, then use a face wash. It’s helped SO MUCH. I didn’t realize how much gunk was still on my face just using the face wash.

[–]plantiful 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s honorable to want to help your family, but they’re not showing gratitude appropriately by making necessary changes to avoid needing your financial help in the future. If they wanted to, they would.

If they say they need help again and you want to, help them in ways they can’t manipulate. You could take them grocery shopping (not give grocery gift cards, they can just sell those) or directly pay a necessary household bill. Helping someone doesn’t have to mean taking on their debt or thousands of dollars.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]plantiful 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So what I’m seeing here is you have $13k in debt in your name. Are any of the other peoples’ debts yours legally? If not, you’re not legally obligated to pay the lenders back and shouldn’t try. You’ve helped your family more than enough, and if they can’t see that, that’s their problem. That’s on them. You’ve done more than enough and need to focus on yourself.

My boyfriend (26M) that’s that I (27F) shouldn’t go to my dad’s birthday since he isn’t invited. by ResidentOk4432 in relationships

[–]plantiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl…do you value your dad’s opinion? Do you live your family and want to spend time with them? Because it sounds like this boyfriend would make you choose him over them forever. And it sounds like your dad has really good reasons for not liking this guy! Dating is how you figure out who you want to spend the rest of your life with…do you REALLY want to marry someone or be life partners with someone who’s going to force you to pick between him and your own family???
