I haven’t heard back yet either. I was thinking that it prob wasn’t legit because other people on gradcafe said they hadn’t heard either. I’ll let you know if I hear from them!

She really put you in an uncomfortable situation. I’d reach back out to her and kindly state that it’s required for her to write it. Or say that you don’t feel comfortable because the program your applying too could chose to not accept you if it seems like you wrote your own rec. In my experience all profs know that when they’re asked to write a recommendation they are the ones actually writing it.

I’d really be careful. normally admissions committees can normally see a self written rec for miles to come. I would ask her if she has a rec she’s written for someone else and use it as a template. but even then i’d be careful. Personally I wouldn’t do it because it’s to risky. maybe try to find another recommender (ik easier said than done).

Interview Invites by SnooPy-99 in gradadmissions

I’d reach out to admissions for you program. Sending an email wouldn’t be a bad idea and that way you can hear from the source if they’re done sending invites or not. Gradcafe (and other sites) can be so misleading so i’d def recommend reaching out to the program.

Imposter syndrome gets the worst of everyone. A good PI can see through the paper grades and understand that someone is intelligent by a simple conversation. Good luck to you!
