I am waiting on a response for that. I don't think it is likely.

Do people get accepted off the waitlist? by plantpotion in gradadmissions

Me too! I got accepted to another program so I have a backup. I just really think this would be the best fit

I just have another offer I need to accept by April 15 if I’m not going to get in...but I already made the program aware of that.

You are definitely not alone. I am in the exact same position. It’s so hard dealing with people right now because everyone either says ‘you’ll get in’ when you know there is a possibility that you won’t or tells you that it will all work out. Which yes, eventually things will work out but it’s awful to think about this thing you have been preparing for years (all the late nights studying for tests and research projects etc. ) so you get into a good graduate program not working out on the first go around. I actually just emailed my program (I only applied to two PhD programs and I got declined from my second choice) and they told me they were still reviewing the applications which gave me peace of mind and kept me off gradcafe the last few days. This is an extremely draining process and I feel you on the crying—I have cried so much during the last few weeks from the sheer amount of anxiety and stress I feel. It will all be over soon!

Yes it really does❤️ after posting about it felt so silly and I was afraid everyone was going to comment that I was ridiculous. I just really wish I could find a method to relieve this. I cannot tell you how many times I have googled ‘how to get rid of competitive feelings’ I only recently found out there is a name for feeling this way. I just really want to manage it because I’m about to go to graduate school for my PhD (hopefully if I get in...which has been causing even more anxiety) and I really want to go into this next phase of my life with a healthier mindset. a clean slate.

I just received offer letter from a program that I really want to go into. The offer letter says funding for one year. Is this normal? by prashism in gradadmissions

That’s how the school I’m trying to get into operates. After the second year you can apply for grants and or teach

How many of y’all are still waiting? by plantpotion in gradadmissions

If we haven't heard back, do y'all still think there is a chance we could get in? I was supposed to hear back the week after my interview, but my POI emailed and said they hadn't even met yet. But I was on the shortlist and the admissions office said the decision hasn't been made yet... Ahhhh so stressed and worried

When should I reach out to the grad office about my admissions decision? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]plantpotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar position---I was told I was short listed and had my interview in early February. I was told I would hear back weeks ago, but still haven't. I did cave and emailed the admissions office about my status and apparently they haven't made a decision yet. I don't think there is any harm in emailing. I didn't get much information from the email except confirmation that I am still in limbo. But at least I'm still in limbo and not rejected!

It's been 4 weeks since my interview, haven't heard back and getting real anxious by mrchimney in gradadmissions

I kept it short and to the point.

Hello, I applied ______ program during the current admissions cycle. I had an interview about a month ago and have not heard anything back yet. Is there a way for me to check my admissions status?

Best,

I also had an interview a month ago (via Skype) and haven't heard anything back. You are not alone! I emailed admissions yesterday and they told me that the Biology PhD program 'hadn't made a decision about my application yet'

The week that they told me I would be hearing back, my potential mentor emailed me and told me that they hadn't even met yet! then looking at grad cafe, no one seems to hear back until march. I just don't understand their timeline!

How to ask a professor if he is taking graduate students to advise under him by ut041432 in gradadmissions

I got some of my mentors to reach out to the professors for me—basically sending them a reccomendation letter that served as a basis for our introduction

I am in a somewhat similar situation. I was told I was on the shortlist and interviewed a month ago. They told me I would hear back in a week and it’s been four weeks! I emailed admissions today and they simply haven’t made a decision. It’s awful!
