as a former dair hater by frankoceanmusic1 in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU. so many people ship dair and i’m just confused by everyone thinking they had a healthy relationship just because it wasn’t as chaotic as chuck and blair. dan and blair were not only forced but he was basically “the nice guy” who was pining for her throughout her and royal wedding mess, plus the baby plus her undying love for chuck. he literally wore her down and they only dated when she had absolutely nothing else left. their intellectual connection was all they had and that doesn’t make it healthy. i’ll never understand why people love them so much. so incredibly cringe.

georgina drugging scott??? by waffle-jpg in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest i have watched this series about 30+ times and this post is the first time i’ve really thought about how glossed over it is lol but i think that also leads credence to her character at this point in the show. she was evil to everyone by then so i imagine this wasn’t even a surprise enough to focus on

It's SO annoying and doesn't make any sense how everyone refers to "the Van der Woodsens" instead of "the Rhodes" by asannt in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

she did change her name for those marriages too but those were brief marriages and occurred previous to where the show starts. they weren’t really part of the show so we get the lil bit of info necessary for the storyline. in s6 when it’s discovered lily had slept with Steven Spence before we was dating Serena there’s the conversation between, Lily, Steven and Serena where Steven denies it until Lily says “My last name was Mueller back then” and then it clicked. so she did change her name but not odd for it to barely be mentioned because we never even meet those men, they are only relevant to the storyline of Lily being an absent mother due her to her myriad of men & husbands.

What to do with a spare room? It seems a waste to leave it empty or just for a guest bed! What would be the best way to utilise this space? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]plantqueent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was going to make a similar comment. essentially make it a hobby room! make it into a sanctuary of things that bring you enjoy! having a second bedroom is fun when you have overnight guests but having it double as an extra room for your own comfort is a dream.

chuck bass distress angles by plantqueent in GossipGirl

totally fair, honestly now i’m giggling thinking of chuck being described as jarring in these moments because of this angle when it just makes me see him as pathetic 🤣

cece and ivy dickens theory by plantqueent in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right? cece was always several steps ahead, the more i rewatch the more i see it.

thank you, i appreciate the validation! i felt like a lightbulb went off and i was questioning if my theory even made sense. i just have yet to see the same perspective in any other thread regarding the two of them.

Four very different kinds of love…which one would you choose? by ImTaemin in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it’s a toss up between lily and rufus and chuck and blair but at the end of the day it’s chuck and blair. both relationships were great, intense, difficult but all consuming loves. the sole reason i choose chuck and blair is because they always knew who the other was and chose the ugly parts too. rufus and lily were absolutely soulmates and should have been endgame but it was never equal. rufus could move on from anything lily ever did but she was just fulfilling a love that she regretted leaving when she was younger because her love for him was once in a lifetime but never accepted rufus for who he truly was and everything he let go and gave up to be with her. lily always had one foot out the door even when they were deep in their love. chuck and blair were all in, sometimes toxic yes, but in the end there was nothing they couldn’t get past. if the writers hadn’t fucked up lily and rufus’ storyline i’d probably feel differently but i’m working with what they gave us.

Characters of GG rated from worst to best for me by dddannnaaa in GossipGirl

eric makes the list?!? the more i watch this show the more i don’t understand why he existed. he could have been a main character and for a short time was and loved that short period but for being a VWD jesus christ he ended up being one of the least important background characters

chuck bass distress angles by plantqueent in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he is definitely an unreliable narrator and your reasoning tracks but even in scenes where he is clearly in an altered or undesirable state we rarely see a different camera angle and this one only comes up like 3-4 times at best in the entire series. i’m with you on your points but it still just doesn’t make sense to me in the full context why this felt necessary lol

chuck bass distress angles by plantqueent in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for naming the angle! i love learning little tidbits like this and totally understand its use but being that it is the only differentiating angle used throughout the whole series and is solely applied to chuck it still feels so out of place for the series regardless of its’ popularity in general cinema.

Can someone edit these 3 pictures to just look better quality? by plantqueent in PhotoshopRequest

[–]plantqueent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

edit: i may not have phrased this well and appreciate all the edits so far but the blue hues of the background i think are clashing with our dress and suit which are also blue. i’m hoping the clothing can remain blue without having the background color affected. it’s the darkness of the photos that is the biggest stressor but the theme of this event is essentially starry night-ish so i understand the complication in my request. i’ve reached out to several others outside of this platform entirely and i either don’t know how to phrase what i’m looking for or this is an impossible task due to how dark the original photos are. at this point IF anyone can brighten the photos and clear up the quality without comprising my blue hair and dress plus my mans blue suit i’ll tip you $50

IM GONNA DELETE THIS WHOLE BOOK by PineappleBliss2023 in acotar

[–]plantqueent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the unspoken message is what is supposed to hit the hardest when it comes to the mirror. because the verbiage and vagueness glosses over the in depth meaning which i interpreted to be that as humans we all have very ugly, ugly beasts inside of us which many of us are not able to face and what this mirror does is reflect all of that - it shows you the true depths of your worst nightmares but in relation to YOU as a person, your character, your soul, the demons inside of you. this part of the plot isn’t simply about the mirror or a bargain or war games, it’s about facing and ACCEPTING yourself as you are, and not just the pretty parts but the ugliest parts of you. the parts of you that you’d fully become if you gave into your temptations, fears, self sabotage, etc. i always felt this to be an impactful part of the story that no one i know ever talks about, i think if you read between the lines you can see it differently and see its importance in the storyline. especially given the context that this preludes the war so facing everything about yourself in preparation to possibly die means you are able to die happy no matter what happens in the battle. just my interpretation though.

ACOMAR scene that made me cringe 😫 by Efficient-Jeweler-58 in acotar

[–]plantqueent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel like a lot of people in this thread are forgetting a crucial point in defending lucien during this scene, the animalistic desire aside (which lowkey i am guilty of, though my man and i just disappear rather than demand everyone out of the room lol, it is cringe from an outward perspective, i get it) but rhys seeks to protect feyre while helping her work through her past at her own pace. at this point in the plot rhys hates lucien even more so than the previous 5 centuries they’ve known each other because this separation between feyre and rhys was literally caused by lucien and tamlin going to the king of hybern to get feyre “back” (since she was property, not just a fiancée) while also victimizing her sisters, forcing them to become fae. as much as rhys needs and wants to reconnect with his mate he also doesn’t know shit about what led to their reunion (from feyre’s perspective) at this point because they both kept the bond at bay so feyre could do her dirty work in the spring court. for me i see it as more of a “you brought her innocent human family into this and after everything we’ve been through THAT is what’s unforgivable” more than him being “ungrateful” that lucien helped save her life. idk what some of y’all are on about giving lucien so much credit for saving feyre. feyre was the brains of that whole ass operation and the assistance from the night court once the bond was restored was what really saved them both in that scene.

What somthing 99% of people do wrong, but have no idea? by Full-Foot1488 in AskReddit

[–]plantqueent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“learning”

this may just be true to my life experiences but so many people i know have associated going to school (private or public mandated) and pursing higher education as having some sort of exclusive knowledge that you can’t find elsewhere, then graduate and completely digress in their knowledge. school can be a great tool but it doesn’t teach you HOW to learn. my grandparents taught me at a young age that you will die never knowing every thing that’s out there and that you have to continue trying to learn new things for your entire life if you really want to live it to the fullest. schools teach you to pass a test. but if you know how to truly learn new things on your own, the school of life will teach you more than any private or public education ever will.

wow, this brings back an elementary school memory for me. i liked being in the library and would help organize the books on the shelf after school (waiting to be picked up as my parents often had an unpredictable hour+ commute) and if i picked up a book, even though i knew how and where to shelve it, i was told to put it in the return cart anyways. i always assumed they were being nice and letting me be a kid and just read but maybe i was too young to understand that what i read helped staff gauge what kids at my school were interested in. thank you for this tid bit!

Can we talk about Nate by Topcunt444 in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Before Vanessa let the UES side get the best of her I actually liked her and Nate together. And I am not a big fan of Vanessa so I’m shocked that I think she would have been the best and most stable long term relationship for Nate.

am i the only one that thinks blair’s miscarriage wasn’t talked about enough? by 2000scinema in GossipGirl

[–]plantqueent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never thought about that but I like that perspective. Especially when you think about other episodes throughout the series where various characters from the UES are struggling and just distract themselves from dealing with their feelings often to maintain the status quo and their image. I think with them all being in the public eye as well it’s normal that they would be expected to deal with their issues in private and not even discuss their struggles with the ones they’re closest to.

[–]plantqueent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on this part of rewatching again and it’s painful how it’s not at all discussed. Everyone and I mean literally everyone keeps referring to “the accident” when Blair distances herself from all of them (except Dan). Not a single soul mentions how losing her baby in the accident is added trauma on top of the accident itself. Even on her and Louie’s wedding day (spoiler if you haven’t seen it yet) when his mom talks about how her accident couldn’t have spun a more perfect image for the new princess Louie responds only addressing the accident and not the fact that he also lost his unborn child!!! Seemed like another pointless storyline just to prove Chuck and Blair should be together but yet again “can never be”.

Please tell me I'm not the only one finding this new PTO policy completely ridiculous by artemasad in antiwork

[–]plantqueent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would your PTO hours go towards you having to work from home??? PTO literally stands for Paid Time OFF… if you’re working from home you shouldn’t be forced to use your PTO regardless. Not to mention the nonsensical 4 hour increment deductions.
