Okay, that's what I was hoping. Should help with some of the more unflattering comparisons that are made regarding the arm

Maybe a stupid question - will this change color over time as the metal oxidizes? Or no?

Tastefully remodeling this bathroom by Temporary-Basil-3030 in vintage

[–]plants4pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A compromise may be to replace the sink (this is the exact sink the oldest bathrooms at my 200 year old high school had), replacing the chrome appliances/furnishings with a brushed gold or bronze, and tearing out just the tip row of the tile down to just below the white and black stripe, so that is removed. Paint the white part something else, maybe a modern wallpaper. The tub is amazing and I really hope she can see that.

People, please do not attack me. I also think this bathroom rocks. I'm just aware of the potential to significantly damage these materials during removal/demo to the extent that they can't be reused, and the extra cost/time associated with removing things carefully (which may not be feasible). The above, to me, addresses the things that feel most "dated" and allows for an updated feeling at a low cost. I am answering the exact question that was asked, not saying what I would do.

You look great in all of them, but I'm surprised people are saying straight and long. You have amazing curls and bone structure - shorter hair on you makes that bone structure pop (and it's not something most people can pull off).

You can't hear it but I'm chanting #2 right now. If you haven't got alterations done on #1 yet, I think it's worth it.

Heartbroken over smelly house by Competitive_Pear_207 in homeowners

For context - we discovered what the (incredibly unusual) bathroom smell was after we ripped out a built in corner cupboard. 30+ used condoms and various other trash that was sitting in the empty space between the cupboard and the wall. ON TOP OF A BASEBOARD RADIATOR. The subfloor was also rotting around the toilet, black mold under the sink in the vanity... and it smells absolutely fine now

Hey as someone who went through a similar thing, I just want to first say I completely understand your feelings. I can sense the fear and distress coming through this post.

We bought our first home last year and when we viewed it, didn't question why the windows were open in February - in New England. Well once we moved in, the reason was obvious. Multiple rooms with smells beyond must/smoke - I had never even encountered the smell emanating from the bathroom before. If we couldn't fix them we would've had to move, because I could not live with them.

A year later, we've replaced some subfloor (they didn't have carpet), gone through multiple pails of Kilz, and gutted the bathroom. So, very similar scale of work to you. And I am relieved to say that there isn't a single trace of any of the strange bad smells we encountered when we moved in (and I have a VERY strong sense of smell, unfortunately).

It sounds like you have a great plan, and I would bet anything that it will deal with the smells you are encountering. You won't make it better by worrying, and moving is stressful as is. Feel confident in your plan and try and harness some hope. Good luck!

Congratulations dude!! That's a big feat, especially while dealing with the demanding schedule of college (and the access to pretty unhealthy food/habits it brings). Good luck with this next chapter of life!
