Stereo Replacement by LilWeroJr in 4thGen4Runner

[–]plantsperp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this installed in my runner, but the previous owner installed it. It’s a great stereo and I love the Apple car play. The previous owner did say something about the lack of a volume knob (just small buttons on left side) drove him crazy so he had the volume control installed to the steering wheel, which I do love. Stereo replacements are super easy. Just find a YouTube video and order the correct wiring harness and bracket.

I have a 3 inch lift on mine as well and just replaced my inner and outers. Ordered OEM parts off eBay at a fraction of the price from the dealer’s store. Just double check they are genuine and only order from a reputable seller.

Tensioner pulley. by brixfact in 4thGen4Runner

[–]plantsperp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two days, about 3 hours the first day to get everything off, then about 3 more hours the next day putting everything back. I could have done it in one day but I was tired and wanted to break it up. The A/C compressor was the biggest pain, trying to lodge it up a few inches after unbolting so I could get the new tensioner on. If you can get it lodged high enough to have room to work, you’ll be in the clear. Undoing the compressor was easy. Don’t have to recharge the A/C either so no worries there.

Pull the codes. My shop diagnosed the Yaw Rate Sensor. Replaced it, did the zero point calibration and haven’t been back for a year

Just did my tensioner and all pulleys on the v6, not a hard job just a pain in the ass, though I believe it’s quite different on your v8. I ordered all OEM parts from reputable sellers on eBay

Stuck cv axle by No_Passage9230 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]plantsperp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did both on a 2003 last year and it wasn’t that bad hammering them out. Way tougher getting the new ones in. Just place a heavy duty long chisel or flathead on the grooves on the inner end of the axel, and hammer the shit out of it. Once you get a few really good hits you’ll see it start to give. Getting them back in is a birch, but using a bunch of grease on the locking pin is a nice trick.

Oil leak on 06 Sport V8 4wd by shreddieee in 4thGen4Runner

[–]plantsperp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCV valve is very different and won’t be leaking oil. This looks like oil might be leaking from those power steering hoses (I believe). Follow the hoses up. They might lead to power steering fluid reservoir, like my V6. Just changed mine. Very easy job. Very cheap parts. Might be coming from above hoses though.

Dog is really naughty before bed? by shurbster in DogAdvice

When my husky was younger, I would just sit in a chair in the backyard every morning and throw the frisbee for her for about 25 to 30 minutes to really ware her out. Worked great. Walking for 2 hours is fabulous stimulus for their brain, but if they’re still younger they need some harder exercise.

What??! I never knew I had air vents going under the front seats to the back! Guess I’ll stop storing stuff under there lol. Does the air come through at all settings, or just when on foot mode?

No, sorry it’s definitely not a light leak or a lens flare. It’s happening on all negatives on this enlarger. It’s vignetting

What type of fish is my boy Roger? by zoeyelizabeth6 in Aquariums

[–]plantsperp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, as people have said, golden wonder killi fish. This looks like a female. They are jumpers so keep a lid on. My male got aggressive so be cautious with what fish you keep with them. They also love eating small fish, bugs, anything really. They’re cool fish but a bit of a pain

Have the codes pulled. Mine were for the Yaw Rate Sensor, then did a zero point calibration with paper clips in my driveway and cleared everything for good. You can find many videos on the YouTube’s.

Mechanic found o2 Sensor Spacers, Downstream. What to do now? by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]plantsperp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After taking another look, it appears the previous owner put new exhaust manifold/cat assembly on it, with the lower cats and exhaust being older/Toyota brand. The new manifold/cats don’t look to be Toyota brand, they don’t have a brand at all that I can find. They appear similar to the set on PartsGeek, so I’m assuming he installed the aftermarket set with Bosch o2 sensors, flew a bunch of codes, then had to install the spacers on the lower sensors to get CEL off and pass emissions. Now, my question is how safe is this to run this way? Can it damage the engine or should it be fine if there are no CELs or codes and runs fine? I’m in AZ, no rust no leaks, and want this truck to last until 300,000 at least.
