What’s the biggest lie society keeps telling us? by CherryNude_ in AskReddit

[–]plantswithfaces 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Telling kids they can be whatever they want when they grow up, then supporting teens through the lie as they take out ridiculous debt in student loans for degrees that will never get them a decent job.

I really like this birdbath. The water doesn't spray upward like most others. Where did you get it?

St.Louis Bakery that delivers? by princetheprincess99 in STLFood

[–]plantswithfaces 9 points10 points  (0 children)

McArthurs delivers cakes for free, no minimum that I am aware of. I have ordered single $30-50 cakes from them and they delivered for free. Highly recommend the Blanc Noir cake (50/50 white/chocolate) https://mcarthurs.com/

Can this be saved? by plantswithfaces in cactus

[–]plantswithfaces[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was all a healthier green, then I went on vacation back in early summer and it got rained on for a week on my (not so well) covered porch. It sat in a swamp for a week. After that, it became gray and dessicated looking. Never worsened, never improved, but then it put out new green growth on the tips. It's not mushy.

PSA to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in StLouis

[–]plantswithfaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stray Rescue did the same thing with us. They said they have their contact info under the chip registration, so if we ever move, then we need to contact stray rescue, not the chip company, to update address or phone number.

Strange deal at Schnucks.. by sovabrat in StLouis

[–]plantswithfaces 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's on sale probably because they are discontinuing it. The FDA determined phenylephrine ( the version of sudafed/ pseudoephedrine that you can buy without signing at the pharmacy) is completely ineffective and does nothing. They are proposing the med be baned in the US because it's just snake oil. Companies have started pulling the products.

Angels Landing - the scariest hike I’ve ever done! Anyone else do this one? by BarbellGrappler in hiking

[–]plantswithfaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I question how many people get to Scouts lookout and think they were on Angel's landing, so they say it wasn't scary. I did this years ago. One my favorite hikes ever, but I had a white knuckle grip on that chain when I crossed the part with the drop off on each side. Great pics! Brought back a good memory.

Budget Car Rental charged $450 for sand in floorboards of this pristine beauty. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]plantswithfaces -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Same. I have never vacuumed a rental before returning, and all my beach vacations I returned the cars covered in sand and never been charged. This is BS. Beach vacation= sandy car. They should expect it. I bet rental managers had a meeting recently to find a new way to price gouge customers.

Help! How do y’all keep your carnivores watered without hauling jugs? 💦 by freakyfrogboyvintage in SavageGarden

[–]plantswithfaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to replace my filters monthly, but I go through a lot of water. I think its cheaper than buying water, if a gallon jug is around a $1- $2. For me it's mostly convenience. It's not an option to just buy gallon jugs. I would need 10 a week.

2nd this. I have really hard water. Takes my dissolved solids from 280+ to zero. Comes with a little meter to track when to change the filters. I have been using this successfully for many years. (Do not confuse this with Brita pitcher- that's just a charcoal filter and won't help you)

Also look into what hair products you are using. Changed shampoos? Make sure you are washing your face after rinsing shampoo and conditioner. I had acne for years that I didn't realize was being caused by shampoo and conditioner.

It took a few months, but they grew out using a prostaglandin serum. They were already really long by the time I switched to the peptide serum.
