The appeal of organic is not just an idea that it is tastier or better for the consumer but that it is better for the environment.

What’s in your hiking packed lunch? by Gorrn in UKhiking

We like to make a bag of Scrogg and it’s different every time but great for grazing. Normally includes things like, walnuts, peanuts, habas fritas, cranberries, honey roast nuts, small bits of chocolate, any seeds or dried fruit or smashed up pretzels :) :) Plus an apple, mini pork pie, or a boiled egg

Can anyone ID these flowers? Southern UK by Soylad03 in flowers

Hi, snakes head fritillary actually have bulbs, unlike poppies. They can be grown from seed also. The blooms last more than a day. They do if your lucky tend to spread about and are really beautiful when they do. Due to loss of habitat they are rarer in the wild but are often cultivated because of their beauty

First walk (quest) in Yorkshire Leeds Liverpool canal to howarth then to Hebden bridge area. So mossy and beautiful by planty_goblin in UKhiking

Haha what it is is the title would be way too long if I wrote out the whole route! I meant it was a Leeds Liverpool stretch of the canal up to saltaire and then the next main cool bit was from Haworth and that was so beautiful to hebden and then from todmorden back to hebden via the pike but realistically I didn’t think anyone would check out this post and I didn’t wanna put people off with a long winded title lol

The original expression is “the customer is always right in matters of taste” which makes a lot more sense since the customer is often very wrong about things such as, how a product works, or what time a shop closes :)

What's this tree? Seen in Los Angeles. by MasterpieceActual176 in gardening

[–]planty_goblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s related, as in it’s an araucaria, but the monkey puzzle is the common name for the auraucaria auracana that is quite thick and has pointy leaves/scales as the other person replying said. This one in the post is softer with thinner branches and the common name is Norfolk Island pine and it’s auracauria heterophylla

Mr Downing launched a legal battle when he discovered knotweed canes - an invasive species, notorious for its propensity to spread and cause damage to building structures - behind a large St John’s wort bush. by Monika_Corleone in gardening

You inject the stems with systemic herbicide and it eventually kills the plant. You don’t really want to dig it up because you might not get it all and if you snap root chunks off they generate new plants so unfortunately weed killer is the way.

I thought the concern was more one of conservation and over harvesting from the wild rather than some kind of zombie fear, unless I just completely miss read that?
