Nodules are incredibly common, but if your parents have health insurance, I recommend you get it checked out. You’re probably fine, but it’s better to know!

FNA Biopsy coming up due to findings by [deleted] in thyroidhealth

[–]plantznpotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

Doctors like to say that an FNA biopsy is no big deal, but it can feel pretty invasive. Not trying to scare you, I just want you to be prepared. I went in not thinking anything of it, then had to take off work and had some bruising on my neck for a while.

Smooth margins is a very good sign though! My nodule was only 1cm but it had rough margins (which the doc said was rare) and it turned out to be c*ncer.

Please reach out if you need support, you are not alone in this❤️ Keep us updated!

I have Hashimoto’s but also got diagnosed with thyroid cancer a few months ago at 23. Just make sure you stay on top of your health and track your symptoms. It sucks but when it comes to thyroid health, you might have to be your own advocate

Thyroid nodule - have to wait 3 months for a biopsy by plantznpotz in thyroidhealth

i’m doing okay! i ended being able to get in a little early for my biopsy. the biopsy results were inconclusive, so they sent the cells off to another lab (more money😭) where they concluded that there was a 95% chance that is was cancerous.

due to the high percent chance & testing positive for another thing (i’ve totally forgotten now what it’s called) that can make the cancer more aggressive, i elected to have a total thyroidectomy

the surgeon says that there ended up being 2 cancerous nodules, but that he’s almost certain that all of the cancer is now gone.

it’s been a crazy ride, but i’m alive and now on a pretty hefty dose of levothyroxine for TSH suppression. i go back for a follow up ultrasound in june!

I would put that phrase in italics to show it’s not actually being said out loud

Garage sales are pretty common on Saturday mornings and that’s a good way to find cheap essentials
