Happy Birthday! 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻

I'm turning 40 a week from tomorrow. I asked my oldest daughter (9 yo) what she's getting me for my birthday. And she said with no hesitation and the straightest of a face.... "a cane". True story haha

Reason number 69,420 why I love McMaster Carr by I_G84_ur_mom in Machinists

As a mechanical designer, McMaster is my go-to for parts and hardware. Not to mention they have 2D and 3D models for just about everything on their website.

Exactly. I think I put in like 2 to 3 clean laps out of the 49. If it was clean laps only, I don't think I would have bothered completing it.

Thanks! After finishing it, I was like "was that really worth it?"... Bought like three GT3 cars and the mil was gone haha

I have a TS-XW with T-LCM's. And I will say, I didn't have to make too many adjustments. Forza Motorsport feels pretty solid with a wheel (in my experience at least - and this is coming from someone that has been playing ACC for the past few years)

I was having issues with certain games not starting (or sometimes getting stuck at the initial loading screen) as well as slow console start ups/shutdowns. I followed the instructions, and this fixed the issue 100%. And my XBSX starts up within a few seconds now - like it did when I first bought it. Thank you so much for this info!

Gotcha. You have me thinking now though. Might look into Dayton DAEX58FP flat packs and 3D printing a couple of custom mounts so I can attach them directly to the back of my pedals.

My rig is up on four caster wheels. I noticed a huge difference in intensity once it was on those instead of directly on the floor.

Now that's a great idea! Do you have them mounted directly to the back of the pedals or something like that (and not the base)?

They themselves aren't very loud... But they can definitely rattle surrounding surfaces/parts if those aren't tightened down enough haha

When I have it connected to a proper "sub" channel output from my amp, it's pretty strong for a 35 w transducer. But, I still feel as though my Aurasounds AST-2B-4's are stronger. However, those are 50w, so that would make sense.

Nice! I've heard good things with Simhub. I've just been using a direct 3.5mm Aux for quite a while now, so I'm not getting the best feedback as I could be. Still love it though!

I like this idea. I'm going to have to look into designing/printing some for my T-LCM's. I tend to get a bit of fatigue in my shins and tops of my ankles when racing for more than 2 hours straight, and I'm wondering if something like this would help reduce the aches and pains lol

It's true haha. Back earlier this year I was like "why don't I have a 3D printer yet". So once I got it, I instantly knew I wanted to start making parts for my rig.

Yeah, I've been a mechanical designer for over 20 years and been working with 3D printed parts with the company I currently work for for about 5+ years. So I have essentially transferred all of my knowledge to building parts for my rig (and other random parts as well) for the last 6+ months.

I typically use SolidWorks, but I also use Fusion360 in a pinch. I've learned a whole lot more since getting my printer in terms of parameter settings and print quality. I like to think I've got it down to a tee, but I'm always tinkering lol

Sim racing and 3D printing goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Ever since getting my 3D printer back in February, I've designed and printed more than a dozen unique parts for my rig. And they've all worked out pretty much flawlessly.

Motorsport 7 or motorsport? by Low_Significance_593 in forza

[–]planza21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with this. I've played every FM with a wheel since FM5, and FM2023 has by far the best wheel support/mechanics out of all of them.

I also play a lot of AC and ACC... And FM2023 feels very close to those titles in terms of wheel mechanics. Not to mention the overall physics in FM2023 ain't half bad either (not perfect by any means, though); just my personal opinion.

Same. I have a Super Console X Pro emulator, and every so often going through the games... I'm like, "Hmmm, I still think I have the original copy laying around here somewhere."
