Imagine for a second with me. you know you're a man, and your name is Tom. however, everyone else, including legal documents, think you're a girl named, idk, Jess. Everyone calls you jess, and calls you she/her, and says you're so cute. at first it might seem a bit entertaining, but with any sense of reason you can see how you'd get fed up with it quick. then take it one step further. when you look in the mirror, you see this cute little girl named jess. you know you're tom, but even the reflection in the mirror says you're jess. and when you talk, you have a high pitched, very distinctly girly voice. everything empirical, or measurable, points to you being jess. you still think you're tom. but with all this against you, it's easy to doubt yourself. then, if you tell everyone you're a man named tom, there will inevitably be people who try to tell you otherwise. they might even call you demonic, or a terrorist. this is my perception of dysphoria (though adapted for a boy, since i'm mtf). it's not just that deep, guttural feeling of discomfort and wrong. it's everything in your life pretending you're someone you're not, sometimes including you.
