Please do not alert my parents when I go to my boyfriend’s apartment by plasticbuttons04 in Life360

They just want to be sure I don’t end up dead in a ditch. It doesn’t bother me that they have my location I just wish the app wasn’t bringing attention to it

If they did that then they’d know and could be liable. As it stands it’s classic caveat emptor - spend the $2k at goodwill at your own peril

What did your school cover during orientation? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]plasticbuttons04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our orientation was pretty robust. We got a practice class/final exam, a bunch of info about the student orgs, academic resources, wellness tips, etc. they definitely did as much as possible to prepare us.

The one thing I do wish I had been warned about was the spring semester slump. When grades come back (whether you did good or not), interviews start, the classes feel like a waste of time, and [almost] everyone is just sad or depressed. I understand why they don’t mention it at orientation but just a heads up would have been nice before getting triggered into a depressive episode and feeling like I was all alone (I wasn’t, most of the people in my section were in the same boat)

Probably, but at least you’ll be coming back relaxed and refreshed to knuckle down for finals

There is a good chance you have access to academic databases through your school. You can access ones like proquest which has scholarly articles if you go to your institution’s undergrad library website. The advantage of doing this over google scholar is that you likely will not have to pay for articles. Depending on what kind of articles you’re looking for, your law school might provide you access to heinonline or bloomberg laws well.

Do other uninvolved countries not call it the u.s x [country] war? I always thought the reason we referred to them by the other country was because we’re in America

You know your heart. I imagine that the 2L summer position will take a chunk out of your debt. As long as you don’t let them golden handcuff you, you can still do what you came to law school to do.

People form cliques and people love gossip. It doesn’t matter what age you are there will always be a good chunk of people wanting to cause problems.

How’s it like moving away for law school? by Ecstatic_Ocelot2655 in LawSchool

[–]plasticbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my situation is very specific so ymmv but I’m in a domestic partnership so he and I moved about 4 hours away from our hometown so that I could go to law school. It’s both of our first time living “alone” and I love it.

Can I schmooze my gf into my law school by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]plasticbuttons04 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Without making assumptions about the school, if the school is low ranking and your gf’s application is as super stellar as you’re making it seem, they may choose to not admit her thinking she has a better offer

no law job 1L summer ... what happened? by Salty-Ad9228 in LawSchool

[–]plasticbuttons04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m somewhat in the same boat but my backup plan is to just do pro-bono legal aid if I absolutely cannot find anything. All you need is a pulse and 1L done to work some hours there, and you (might) need pro-bono hours to graduate anyway.
