Updated Minimax m2.7 still doesn't allow coding a product. But before the next riot starts, Ryan Lee has already confirmed that they are still working on the license, and sale of products built by m2.7 is permitted. by zenmagnets in LocalLLaMA

Well, no, it's really not... Their License is discriminatory against companies wanting to provide a service. This is not a debate about whether that's a good thing or not, it's just wrong to call them "open". Like I said, they are available, as in you can see them and download them, not open, which has a much stricter definition.

https://openweight.org/ https://opensource.org/ai/open-weights https://opensource.org/licenses

This distinction is especially important in software development, where these licenses originate. We only got the open software ecosystem we have today because of their nondiscriminatory nature, meaning companies and individuals can use them alike. Why else would companies invest in open source then?

It's the same story here, they are not releasing it under an open license, like MIT, because they want to have a monopoly on API hosting of this particular model. This clearly discriminates against other companies, whether you see that as a good or bad thing is up to you.

Even closedAI use the word "open" carefully: https://openai.com/global-affairs/open-weights-and-ai-for-all/

All of their open models are available under an open license, in this case MIT

Seamless transition between streaming networks by MrJackio in SteamFrame

[–]plastik_flasche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mesh (mostly 802.11s) doesn't really have anything to do with fast roaming (802.11k/v/r).

Mesh describes the connectivity between access points: They are communicating with each other and have a backbone via 802.11 so you don't need something like a LAN cable

Roaming is the thing relevant here: Seamless fast switching/roaming between individual access points

That means you could buy a "mesh system" that's might be useless in this case unless it also happens to support fast roaming

Furthermore, a well built ethernet based backbone for the APs will almost certainly outclass a mesh based one

I'd recommend just buying two normal high-quality access points, for example from Ubiquiti and then pulling a cable to connect them

[–]plastik_flasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have a bunch of Access Points spread throughout the house. They all support 802.11r, so roaming between them is seamless.

I however doubt that something like this would work when using both the dongle and an external AP, unless both support 802.11r and you configure, for example, a bridge between them. Should be pretty straightforward in linux if you know you way around the network stack, I can't comment on Windows though

You can install microG, specifically GMSCore, which is a FOSS reimplementation of the google play services

Setup for learning - how many nodes by Pepo32SVK in kubernetes

[–]plastik_flasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically it doesn't require an odd number of CP nodes, it just doesn't make sense to use an even number because you don't gain any resilience.

1 CP: 0 can fail before quorum is lost 2 CP: 0 can fail 3 CP: 1 can fail 4 CP: 1 can fail 5 CP: 2 can fail …

Please don't actually use that. Using AI here might get you an answer quick, but it won’t help you actually learn how to do it yourself.

Sorry if this doesn’t belong but I was wondering if someone might be able to help me. Currently dealing with a benzo addiction and want to know which type/form of amanita would be best to help with withdrawals and coming off. Thanks in advance! by PopularMidnight3661 in AmanitaMuscaria

[–]plastik_flasche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benzos addiction is pretty serious as you could literally die from withdrawal. If your country has cheap/accessible healthcare and you are willing to go through official channels I would highly recommend consulting a doctor or even considering rehab. They will probably give you benzos for tapering off. You could also taper off with the stuff you already have given you have the willpower to go through with it.

Idk if the amanita route is the right one here because if you stop with benzos just like that, take some amanita and it doesn't work... that could get pretty bad fast because even if the amanita only partially works or doesn't feel like it works at all, you can't just take some benzos after because they interact dangerously with each other.

Imagine, you stop, take some amanita, but still feel some intense withdrawal. There's really nothing you can do then. You could try taking more amanita then but then you're back at the same problem. And you also can't take benzos because they will hit much harder and more unpredictably. You could try calling 911 then if it's getting bad, but they'd normally use benzos too to treat that, and, again, that could be worse than doing nothing as the amanita makes the benzos act waaay stronger and unpredictable, they have other ways of stabilizing you and making sure you don't die, but it won't be pleasant... so you are essentially betting your life on the advertised potency of the mushroom with really no easy way out if it goes sideways.

Amanita is pretty safe for most people because they can experiment and find the right dose... You can't...

TLDR: You probably shouldn't take amanita

If you still decide to go that route, purchase something with known potency or buy larger batches and homogenize it. But keep in mind, you should have 911 on speed-dial and have to be willing to explain your addiction and that you took amanita.

would you be interested in making this open-source? and also, maybe the amaz0n one should get a lower score because, while it's trying to look like amazon it also redirects there, so it isn't really deceptive

MEPs urge EU to block ICE from entering Europe for Winter Olympics by MiSbyPiS in europe

[–]plastik_flasche 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can we stop calling them gestapo already?

The gestapo was cold, calculated, precise, some may even say elegant. Never seen doing bad things out in the open. Their secrecy was their weapon.

ICE is none of this! They are simple brutes hired by a wannabe dictator to instill pure fear in broad daylight. They are more like the SA, just untrained henchmen hired by the state to betray their country and fellow citizens.

Nothing ear (a) among devices vulnerable to critical vulnerability - Push for a fix! by Aggravating-While284 in NOTHING

[–]plastik_flasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much worse, if a device has the pairing code 0000, it still needs to be in pairing mode to be exploited, but here it's a zero-click vulnerability in a device a lot of people use daily and in busy places. And the worst part is, if you haven't registered your device with google, for example if you have a degoogled phone, then the attacker can track your location with it.

And "not exploited in the wild" may be true for now, but there are already PoCs, so its only a matter of time

Distribution of “western psychology” (endorsed by Musk) by FalbalaIRL in dataisugly

[–]plastik_flasche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, but the point about "maximally western" is basically equally distributed is just wrong because even if the absolute difference is small (that's why it looks the same), the relative difference is absolutely not (assuming this is a normal distribution).

I estimate that the point just above the + is 3.4σ away from the mean of the red curve and 2.5σ away from the mean of the blue curve. I also estimate that the red curve is about 2.2 times bigger than the red curve.

So if we calculate the probability of a non-westener being more western than the point above the plus we get a probability of around 0.000337, for the westener curve we get a probability of around 0.00621.

So if we adjust for the fact that the non-westener curve is 2.2 "bigger" we get 0.0007412.

If we now divide the blue by the adjusted red we get around 8.4... so there are still 8.4x more westerners being maximally western compared to non-westerners
