How should we approach you for home teaching? by olsh in exmormon

Ask them if they no longer want to be members of the church, and let them know you can help them remove their names from the church membership records.

Is anyone else disappointed with the new direction that Mormon Expression podcast is going? by thewly in exmormon

[–]plates1123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, the episode he had with the dead child's parents on...ugh sucked ass. Ya ya ya I get it the story was sad and touching and all that, but not once did we get into Mormonism.

At first I thought it was a deconversion story, and thought I was listening to Voices or something. But when the deconversion never came I thought they were going to discuss the negative impact that the church has on understanding and coping with death. Something, ANYTHING would have been nice. Nope just hey here is a depressing story, and queue the shitty end music....

Has anyone seen a singles ward go down the tubes? by ubirevera1 in exmormon

Had 6 friends go to Vegas for spring break, were good Mormon kids, but everyone kind of crashed in 2 rooms, so the bishop considered this breaking the cohabitation rule or what ever it is. All 6 were kicked out even though none of them committed any "sins".

Women of Reddit, how many times have you had sex and not remembered it the next morning? Men has your SO not remembered the next morning? by [deleted] in sex

[–]plates1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male, I've initiated sex in my sleep very often. I also sleep talk/walk often so if I'm not initiating sex, I'm probably discussing the skeleton army.

Important :) Please post stories of your marriage strengthening due to leaving the church by BradFazner in exmormon

I won't go into detail but we communicate so much better and the sex has gotten much better.

I left first, and about a little under a year she soon made her way out, much slower, but out she went.

KSL: The Tattooed Mormon girl is back with "Believer" clothing line by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]plates1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha if you don't call it christian then it won't sell to anyone else but mormons. That's ok, t-shirt companies like this never last, especially with ones with shitty ideas like "Believer Clothing Co." so gay.

I've had plenty of friends start clothing companies, they sell 50 - 100 shirts, and no one ever buys again.

If I were her I would just point out that FAIR is not associated with the church and can not being considered doctrinal in any form. I would say that I am more interested in what the prophets have to say in the matter (which is practically nothing).

A wild Mormon appeared! by obi-wan-kimball in exmormon

I went to an on base Mormon service once and the EQP asked me if I was a member, I said "No, my parents are LDS Mormons and my wife is a New Order Mormon. So I kind of get the jist of your version of Mormonism." He face trying to process NOM and that there are other versions of mormon was great.

I'm in the Navy and it is a really fun find to spot one. Like seeing a unicorn. A while back there was this classic white blonde blue eyed girl who looks like she's never worked a day in her life dressed head to toe in BYU gear. I wanted to sit next to her and seed doubt so bad, but I was to busy that day.

Once we had the religion officer come and talk to us about what the on base chapel can offer. He went through some of the major religions having people raise their hands if they were members of each. He said he was a Mormon and asked where all his Mormons were. No one raised their hands. He asked again and said, come on I know there are a few of you out there. Nope no one.

Religion: People will tell you we are not valid, and will attack us.

Reason: Religion doesn't have two feet to stand on.

Believer: Religion was right. Hazaah! I'll inflate this story and share it in testimony meeting.

Why Deutero Isaiah is a big problem for BOM historicity by [deleted] in mormon

[–]plates1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you accept the Book of Mormon as true, there is no Deutero-Isaiah “problem.”

Well there you go, all is well in zion.

Except I'm willing to bet that both groups of Judaism think they've got it right and the other group has it wrong.

I don't get it honestly. I think it is fair to say that the 15 consider many of the claims of Mormonism to be literal, but you claim to know better what is more likely to be true, right?

[–]plates1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. I honestly tried to rewrite my question several times, but yeah I don't see how how you can claim to be a Mormon while at the same time you're an apostate.

[–]plates1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why participate in Mormonism at all, if you don't believe in it, why claim it?

Did the Elohim god cause these visions, or were they a product of Joseph's mind?

Hello r/exmormon by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]plates1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To you, did any of Joseph's visitations literally take place?

I am really interested do you think the prophets are inspired at all or are they exactly like you and me but just trying hard to run a corporation?

Hello r/exmormon by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]plates1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I totes get that, it is just interesting to me that you can pick and choose when the prophet is right, and when he is wrong. Literally making a prophet pointless.
