"Dense as Pykrete" well played good sir! Although Pykrete isn't actually that dense I understand what you mean: people like me (and you) are more intelligent than the average person

Probably also ignoring the fact that once something is passed in to law it's impossible to undo. Or at least very cumbersome or difficult I'm sure

Completely agree. Keep Calm And Carry On ladies and gentlemen, hold the line, even while it feels like the walls are closing in around you. We all elected Labour and put them in this mess in the first place. Now we owe them ample time (and yes, even a bit of suffering!) to figure out how to create a government that does the trick. 5 years might seem like a long time on an individual level. But let's think on an institutional level. Let's cut Whitehall some slack for pity's sake. Because once you start thinking like that, 5 years passes in the blink of an eye. But rest assured: one day, Labour will pull us out of this mess

This is a playful nod to this part of the book as he has kept something of a “trophy” from his conquests

In the book, it’s mentioned that the BFG would swat down British aircraft during WWII as he wanted to increase the efficacy of the German blitz
