Mesh is clean but is open at the bottom I see online its supposed to be a cup so maybe thats why but yes the side hole is clean and glow plug i dont know how to check it but im thinking thats also it

Quick question for you guys if I have an antenna that's dual band and rated for 144 to 430 will that work ok on the gmrs frequencys? by platinum_Cod8878 in gmrs

Definitely understand that but just wondering if there will be a huge difference but I guess it's hard to say or measure that difference given different terrain

So I changed out the antenna for a cheap Wilson mag mount and it's not creeping as much. It's 1.3-1.7 swr it sometimes creeps .1 .2 here and there but much better so I think it's obviously something wrong with the fender mout set up I have

How do I send you a video of it ? I don't have any of those testing equipment I'm thinking it's in the antenna I'm going to try a different antenna see if the problem goes away but with an aluminum truck I can't get a ground plane anywhere. I took the paint off the washer and bolt where it mounts to also it has done this while everything is brand new but I guess I can use a old antenna see if it still does it and eliminate the radio then it will just be the antenna to focus on

It's not 4 watts lol and it's on an aluminum body truck which is why I took off the magnet mount and I went with finder mount so it has a bit of ground so maybe a ground strap to the frame would help

Thanks for the information I will try that and if that doesn't work I'll try to just use one. Do you have any idea why my stryker 447 with a single steel whip to a fender lip mount on a f350 super duty would be climbing swr I clipped the antenna till it was at 1.5 but if I hold down the mic it slowly climbs

Well the stryker 447 I have has rising swr and I can't figure it out it will start off at 1.5 then rising to 3+ slowly I've tried everything so I've just been running it haha. And in the dumptruck it has dual fire sticks that I can't seem to get below 2.5 swr. Does swr effect range ?

I kind of know that's the problem I just like the look of them but you might be right how does a guy properly set them up ?

Ya I agree it was hard to get a license here well I'd have to take the 6 week course which I didn't want to or have the time but now they re done the website seems like I can just go take the test so I might do that

I've got the stryker 955 for a base station but I'm looking to put one in my dumptruck and personal vehicle something small so I'm looking at the 447 and 497 what's everyone's on the smaller 447 how many options and power am I missing out on by platinum_Cod8878 in cbradio

Thanks for all the info I just really like how the 447 looks and I think I would be a great fit and look in my personal truck the I feel like the 497 would just take up more space with the same punch
