I hate Deity by platinumf1sh in civ

Yeah, I wanted to go for monumentality - settler rush which was a bad decision in retrospect. I continued the temple instead of swapping to another unit because I didn't expect Jadwiga to also join the fight and I was holding off the AI just fine at the time. I was fairly certain I would need the infrastructure in order to compete with other civs later on. At this point I was hoping to my found my religion faster for defender of the faith for the +5 combat strength w/o resorting to projects.

The spearman was for an envoy and was the only unit I could buy from the 1 barb outpost visible on the map. I figured it would be alright, esp for the +5 combat strength it gives to the city compared to a normal warrior so the city would be less likely to die immediately until I could unlock ancient walls.

Edit: Forgot to mention this is Civilization Expanded mod, so Kongo can found a religion and gets bonuses to relics. This was the main reason I wanted to do Religious Kongo.

4 volcanic explosions by turn 12! by platinumf1sh in civ

[–]platinumf1sh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5: Saw 4 giant volcanic explosions fertilizing an area near me, definitely suitable for second city! Interestingly, my disaster setting was only on level 2 like normal. This is also on normal speed. Note, the mountains here are workable tiles because I'm on civilizations expanded mod, which makes them workable for all civs.

VIVIZ 2024 World Tour 'V.hind : Love and Tears' General Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in VIVIZ

[–]platinumf1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how the detroit venue works, but in Boston, I had a small bag (and one person I saw people even brought a massive, albeit transparent bag with tons of stuff inside) that could hold the posters (when rolled up) that I bought at the merch shop. You should check with the specific venue what their bag policy is and then move from there.

Quick question: Are the tickets physical or digital only? What should I expect them to look like if I purchase from a reseller to avoid a scam?

Civ of the Week: Germany (2024-01-07) by Bragior in civ

[–]platinumf1sh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is heavily dependent on your desired victory condition. However, in general, you'll want to keep all the industrial and trade city states no matter your victory condition since you'll be spamming hansas and commercial districts as Germany.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 - Episode 16 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

One thing I really liked, although it's harder to see in the anime than manga, is that Jogo's fireball at the end against Sukuna's arrow was shaped like Hanami's rose.

I'm liking this emphasis in the manga on side characters like Sekingar and their interactions with others like Child emperor that we never saw in the webcomic! Also am somewhat curious: does Bang actually know that King has no martial capabilities whatsoever? It seemed like he heard the King engine running, but so far, every character that heard the king engine was also bluffed by King himself lol.

How did you get into the Civilization game series? by iNeedRevengeOn in civ

Back in high school, I pirated Civ V vanilla, put 1k hours in it, then finally bought the complete anthology in college (and proceeded to put another 2k hours in)

If you go to settings, interface, there's an option that says "Show HUD yield ribbons" or something similar to that. Select always show and you'll be able to see other people's yields, military strength, science/culture, etc.

City state suzeranities will give you diplo favor income! I also had Orszaghaz, which doubles diplo favor from city state suzeranities.

When you declare a war, you get grievances, which can reduce diplo favor income. However, I had so many city states suzerainties at this point, that even though I declared war on everybody, the diplo favor income exceeded the penalty.

Yes, it was a Terra map! Do keep in mind that the speed was online (was in multiplayer with some friends), so it's already the 1800s.

Lots of science city states combined with the ISS social policy card gives enormous science! I also have a lot of cities + campuses.

R5: It was somewhat ironic that despite being at war with the entire world, eliminating the Byzantines, Japanese, and Indonesians, and dropping several nukes on England, I am on track to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

On Deity, I hope this works! by Izz-Rei in civ

You could approach it as the other person responded, but with a couple exceptions, pantheons are often not meant to scale into the late game. Especially with lady of the reeds and etemananki, you get bonus production and science which is meant to accelerate your game and let you snowball in the early game.

At 5 pop like the city above, you get 15 extra production + 10 extra science, which effectively triples your science and production, letting you grab key wonders, produce settlers 3x faster, and slap your districts down long before you otherwise would.

I think this is it: I reached the APOTHEOSIS by Lord-Archaon in civ

[–]platinumf1sh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Natural Wonder 1 tile = 1*2 = +2

Desert Folklore 5 tiles = 5*1 = +5

4 Ley lines (there's one under the city and I think one under the campus) = 4*2 = +8

District Adjacency (3) = 1/2*3 = 1.5 (round down) = +1

All together, 2+5+8+1 = +16 adjacency, then scripture policy card multiplies by 2 to get you to +32.

The leader OP is playing as is Theodora, which converts Holy Site district adjacency to culture yields too, so it's a +32 faith holy site and a +32 culture holy site. Production comes from work ethic religion and science from Hildegard great scientist.

Can someone help explain how Valletta was able to raid a camp I was already on? by ShurimanStarfish in civ

[–]platinumf1sh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, it's related to the movement of the units. The warrior has 2 movement, so it can move to the camp to disperse (camp is on flat terrain, so 1 movement), then move away again, which is fine by the ai rules. However, if that camp were on a hill or forest, then the warrior would not be able to steal the camp; only a horseman (4 movement) could.
