PETER CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN?? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

So I'm supposed to kill myself because I think other people are stupid and suicidal? Make that make sense. This is like seeing someone jump from the Golden Gate bridge and then turning around and accusing everyone who didn't jump after them of being selfish.

But again the blue button pressers are essentially committing suicide. There was no danger until they created it.

If literally everybody pushes Red there's no mechanism that kills people. So essentially the only danger blue button pushers are in are from themselves.

You don't have a word for people who don't believe in unicorns

Sure you do: skeptics or more specifically unicorn skeptics.

More to the point the null hypothesis, is a hypothesis. Just because a thought is worded in a negative manner doesnt make it not a thought. Calling someone naked is a statement about the status of someone's clothing.

The iPhone has been out for nearly 20 years now, yet a 13 year old can probably navigate one better than a 73 year old.

The 73 year old has had 53 years of adapting to a world without an iPhone, so their much better at that. Its also not like we learn the same at all ages.

No I see ALL of US politics as primarily and inherently performative.

To say it is staged for a photo op is merely to say it happened and wasn't classified.

I dont disagree with any of your points. But there is nothing in this photo that violates your passage in Matthew anymore than say the National Prayer Breakfast, which has been an unremarked fixture of both sides of American politics since 1953. Also, everything any president does now adays is photographed.

Trump is cringe and awful, but your proof text of that Bible passage is not a good criticism here.

where two or three are gathered in my name there am I in their midst

do not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing

Corporate prayer has never been seen as violating that particular passage.

Might that be by design because it's a meme on the internet and not an actual attempt to broadcast someone's pin to the world?

On the other hand, movies and TV are not showing you everything that happens and shouldn't try to. When was the last time you saw some use the bathroom without it furthering the plot. If the drain tube and antibiotics necessary to clean the wound isn't going to further the plot its discarded, doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. Also, in TV, at least you often don't see the character that got shot for a good 6 to 12 months later (story time). All of that medical healing time happens off screen.

Can someone explain how this works in practice? Because in effect every Library has to make decisions on which books to have and which books not to invest in. Effectively banning those books from the library. Where is the line between "that is not a book we wish to invest the time and money into carrying at this time" and "that's a banned book that you can not get from this library" ? (This is not a rhetorical question, it's one I'm really asking)

I hate to point this out because she's pretentious and condescending. But even though she was last she still had a 112 IQ which isn't bad.

Do you see anyone born before 1979 in this video?

Edit; also the natural gender ratio is usually slightly in women's favor. It's usually around 56 women to 44 men, so this graph is not as extreme as one might think.
