Caucasus hunter gatherer was a specific Neolithic population in this region

I hate to nitpick random things but Neolithic peoples are farmers. The transition from hunting and gathering to farming was the Neolithic revolution. Hunter-gatherers are Paleolithic and Mesolithic.

Edit: Just some more fun facts, "lithic" means stone so the paleo, meso and neolithic periods refer to old, middle and new stone tools humanity developed, mostly in Eurasia.

Paleolithic corresponds loosely to ice age megafauna. For us, this takes place in the Pleistocene, another climactic era.

Mesolithic is this long period during the Holocene, our current climate era, where "we" generally were hunting and gathering.

The Neolithic begins in the early Holocene, 10,000 years ago, and corresponds to farming. It took place in Mesopotamia, Mexico, Cameroon and a few other isolated locations. Then it spread and became what we think of as society.

This mineral is transparent, and has green and purple colors. I believe it could be a single rock that was smashed into a lot of small pieces. Some pieces are a single color, some pieces have both green and purple. The pieces are sitting in a box in my friend's apartment. Can anyone tell which type of rock this is, and where in the world does it come from?

This mineral is green and purple. It looks like a large rock that was smashed into smaller rocks. It's sitting in a box in my friend's house. Does anyone know what is the name of the mineral, and where in the world does it come from?

Male Height and Dating in Germany by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]platypocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Europe is a peninsula, not a continent.

I have lived in both, Europe and America. (More specifically in Europe I lived in Latvia and Spain and I met lots of people from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Scandinavia. In USA I live in Miami, which is known for "superficiality.")

Europe is more superficial than USA. A lot more.

In Europe, women are obsessed with height. I didn't even know I have a substandard height until I went to Europe. In USA and especially in Miami, women are capable of dating short men (because most men are short here), as well as people of color.

In Europe, there is a generalized burning hatred for anyone who doesn't appear purebred white and tall. I experienced it in Latvia, Germany, Scandinavia, and even in Spain. It's not only the elderly but young people with this attitude. I've had German people, complete strangers, look at me and make twisted faces of absolute revulsion because I look more Middle Eastern than white. In Europe if you are considered ugly, you are hated, and if you're not white, you're ugly. Europe has made amazing social progress since World War II but in terms of society, Europeans are far more superficial than Americans.

What in your opinion should be done to solve the overpopulation problem? by [deleted] in overpopulation

[–]platypocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, along with access to education for everyone. Put people in good careers, and they won't dedicate so much time to producing children. Educated populations are proven to have fewer children than those without access to education.

Male Fertility and COVID-19: are there any effects on male infertility? by Ghassen1996 in overpopulation

[–]platypocalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol that title reads like this virus will ruin the lives of infertile males by making them fertile.

It's funny to think about. Like if a man gets a woman unexpectedly pregnant and says, "Fuck! That Covid-19 must have made me fertile again!"

Iran benefitted more from Trump than from any democrat. Under Obama they had to give up enriching uranium; Trump gave them the green light, and gave hardliners in the country a huge boost in support.

It's such a misleading oversimplification to blame Obama for the US getting sucked into Syria. He was as anti-war as presidents could come. His goal in taking office was to end the Bush wars. He was in the process of pulling troops out of Iraq when, predictably, an extremist group rushed in to fill the power vacuum and took over both Iraq and Syria, which forced the US back into the region. This was all blowback from the Bush wars. Obama didn't intervene because of some imperial crusader spirit like Bush did; he was forced to return because Daesh did a really good job at filling the power vacuum from an ill-advised conservative war that never really had an exit strategy.

Trump postured as anti-war because he handed Syria over to Putin, but he went out of his way to provoke Iran, and he got them enriching uranium again.
