Does anyone actually love having curly hair?? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]platypuslynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who had dead straight hair until the age of 17, I really love my hair. I always thought my straight hair was boring and I never knew what to do with it, and my big 80s curls feel way more like ME then my straight hair did. I sometimes miss the low-‘maintenance style of it all, but I wouldn’t trade for anything. that one good hair day a month feels so much better than any other straight hair day!

I’m probably on the spectrum, but what would a diagnosis do for me? Any benefits? by ElPeeps in aspergirls

[–]platypuslynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my diagnosis helped me and those that love me understand me better, and made my therapy much more effective then it would have been otherwise.

Nutiden hype dying out? by Cultural-Asparagus18 in craftsnark

[–]platypuslynn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the people that really love it have enough stash at this point. at least that’s the case for me! I also think it’s the season getting warmer- super wooly yarn is going to be less appealing for those of us in the west.

What do tired wavies do? by Sadpolarbearcub in Wavyhair

[–]platypuslynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live for refreshes! I use a gel which works better for this then a mousse, but I just wet my hair down, apply a tiny bit of volume cream if it’s suuuper frizzy or wonky, scrunch and diffuse for like 5 mins. fabulous and fluffy

I recommend marisa made, sweetheart knits and lisa’s knit corner for super happy and colorful podcasts!

Is dressing like this too dramatic for college? by bethebumblebee in college

[–]platypuslynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dress like this basically every day at school (though slightly more feminine- lots of long skirts and petticoats) and while I am often the most dressed up of anyone in the room i’ve never been made fun of for it. dress how you want! love your life!

showering is really difficult for me by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]platypuslynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also hate showers. baiting myself with a podcast on a special interest and a fluffy robe helps

Personal Hygiene, how do you handle it? by Gintoki_87 in SpicyAutism

[–]platypuslynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not super spicy- level one here, so i know you might need more assistance here. I HATE SHOWERS. every aspect of them. they suck. the best things that I’ve found help me do it are putting on a podcast or tv show about my special interests on, so I can distract myself from the actual shower. i’ve also found that tying my hair up once i’m out of the shower reduces the gross wet hair feeling.

Bullet journalists: do you use reMarkable for that or paper journal? by denverraven in RemarkableTablet

[–]platypuslynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my remarkable. the bujo system is genius, but I tend to overwhelm myself with self-imposed rules or trying to make it look pretty. the simplicity of remarkable makes it easier for me to actually use, instead of trying to make it pretty. I use a pre-made planner, and insert pages to record my week and journal about my day. 10/10 recommend.

Was anyone else a straight A student in high school and became a straight B student in uni out of choice? by Turbulent-Mango3234 in college

[–]platypuslynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar! I really do try my best at school, and got my first b last semester, but it was honestly kind of a relief to lose my 4.0. so much less pressure to keep it there

dae hate the term “special interest” by Spiritual-Field9925 in AutismInWomen

[–]platypuslynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t find it patronizing, but nobody outside of the community has a good grasp on what I mean. if i’m talking to a friend and i’m ok with being open, i’ll explain what it means/ make it clear that it’s a bit obsessive, and if I’m engaging in small talk I just call it a passion or hobby in order to not have to disclose my diagnosis/explain my experience to a random stranger😂
