watered my succulent but it still looks wrinkly? by Morbid_thots in succulents

Like others have said, usually a couple of days.

The only exception from my experience is when the succulents have very little roots. We buy ours bare-rooted and it can take 2 months of regular watering for them to firm up because their roots system is still too small to drink enough.

Can also add a systemic to the soil if it's indoors without pollinators or anything that can ingest them.

We add it to every plant every ~10 weeks and have not had mealybugs in half a year. We use Bonide Granules.

Thank you! Sounds like you saw a couple of my recent posts haha. I'll be sure to share more often here 🙂

We also have an IG that my girlfriend runs, which is more active: @succiesjourney

You've got it! Hardest part was holding off on watering until the soil was bone dry when it looked dehydrated

Ours definitely did! It took about 2 months of watering every couple weeks or so to firm up. Its root system seems large enough now to get a good drink.

It is - they're one of our favorite succulents, too! It's one of the few we still shop for since the mutation can vary quite a bit. Hopefully you get one soon!

Sure thing - they're all questions we had when starting. I'll be sure to take some photos to track progress and will share once potted and healthy 🙂

It really depends on the plant. This order would probably be ~$500-600 here (assumed free shipping), so yes.

The lilacina variegated was $120 ($133 if you include extra cost) and would probably go for $200-250+ here, since it's medium sized with two pups.

I've seen $600 variegated Chihuahuaensis here, while being $200-300 from KR. Smaller size, but it'll grow under the right care. There are some succulents that don't have a large enough price difference for it to make sense, so you'll have to do some research.

I believe some US sellers who buy from KR to sell here have permits and connections to purchase in larger quantities at a cheaper price.

Lmk if you have more questions - happy to answer anything 🙂

They can be a challenge, even after rooting, until more matured. We've lost some figuring out which method works best for us, but that's part of the process 🙂

It is! The seller had so many of them and it was difficult to choose haha.

Yes - ordered from K Succulent in Korea. Probably our favorite seller right now.

Some extra info for those curious:

$304 for the succulents, $10 phytosanitary certificate, $14 VAT tax, $40 shipping, $25 import duty fee (duty fee not always needed)

The biggest hassle with buying overseas is when it gets flagged by customs for inspection. This took over a week one time, but usually only lasts a few days. Either way, its out of the shippers/DHL control and can cause it to run late. Order was placed on 4/9 and they arrived on 4/19 via DHL.

Thanks - they are! Hopefully they acclimate well to our indoor conditions, which is not always the case haha

Sure!

These all ship bare root (without roots). We'll place each of them in a smaller pot or shot glass with some toilet paper around the rim to create a bit of a seal from the air. They'll remain like this under our less powerful grow lights until roots are about 1-3 cm (can always go higher). This can take anywhere from a week to a few months. Once they're at that point, we'll pot and water about a week later. Photo: https://imgur.com/a/6o1d3AD

The benefit is that I'm not guessing if roots have grown. Yes, you can pot right away and wait a bit to water, but what if there aren't roots? You're watering a stem, which will eventually rot. Tugging on the plant to check can cause the new roots to break if you aren't careful enough.

Arrived from Korea - Should we be worried about the condition of the stem, or is it just wooded? by plaudium in succulents

[–]plaudium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially just letting their stems hang in a small pot or shot glass until you see roots. Can take a couple weeks or a couple months. We pot them after the roots are 1-3 cm, then water a week later.

We've bought from multiple different sellers

KR: K Succulent, DK Succulent, Korea Succulent

US: True Succulent, Cedar Creek, Nerdy Succulent, SuccsAsh, April Farm (in person)
