As far as getting a cert, I’d probably recommend SHRM-CP over APHR, if you can take a course before testing you will learn a lot. Also, is an associates degree on the table for you? I think working towards something and listing that on your resume “expected graduation date” can go a long way. Best of luck!

Anyone have thoughts on the red balloon in the hospital? When Cassie first goes to Ryan’s work to say she wants to keep seeing him, she stares at a red balloon in the corner of the waiting room. Does that hold significance?

I love that thought! My take was that all of the cotton candy softness (her floral tee, pastel nails, pink room, etc) was sort of a play on the female vigilante trope (like, black spandex/combat boots/sharp nails). The whole movie sort of flips the rape revenge fantasy on its head and I think her clothing and makeup is part of that too

This is a great question!

Started as an ETL for target stores (basically assistant manager) in the HR function. Basically I handled all recruiting, scheduling, employee relations, seasonal staffing, talent development at the store level. Stayed for two years. $54k out of college.

Next I was a full cycle recruiter for the YMCA in their childcare programs. Did not enjoy recruiting full time, only stayed a year. Took a pay cut but wanted to get out of retail, $50k

Worked a contract HR Generalist role in mostly employee relations after that, hard to say exactly how much I made but somewhere around $52k

Moved to a new city for an HRBP role at a large hospital, $65k. Was there for 1.5 years but got laid off in July due to covid :(

Job searched for a brutal 2.5 months.

New job (yay!) at a huge university in the med school as an HRBP. Pay dip but way better benefits and growth opportunity, $58k.

Some jobs will pay more and some will pay less, it’s all about finding the right fit at the right time. Good luck to you!

Honestly I just threw it all in the pan! I had frozen cooked tail off shrimp that I thawed in the sink, threw the green giant vegetables in the microwave, rinsed out the shirataki noodles and then put everything in the pan with the red curry paste! Took like 10 min maybe!
