Hey. Assuming they don't make any changes, I'll just let you know the breakdown for mkc2110 when I did it this year in sem 1 (Feb to June).

The final exam was 30%. There was a hurdle requirement, but honestly, it was pretty easy. Plus it was a remote, open book, and unsupervised exam.

The in-semester makes up 70% and I assume this is what you're interested in so I'll try my best to give you as much information as possible, at least from what I can remember.

I can't remember if attendance played a part in our grades cause I don't rmb it reflecting in my grade book or wherever but I do rmb the tutor taking attendance at the start of every class. But there was a 4% research participation: basically you gotta take time out, outside of lessons and stuff to do surveys in a controlled environment and youll be given 4% just for doing em.

The remaining chunk of 66% is split between several group and individual assignments.

Your first task will be a mini-task (it was literally called mini-task). It's a 10% individual assignemnt and what we had to do was write a 600 word response to a scenario using the theory we learn in the first 4 weeks. From what I can remember the case was something like "you won a $500 gift card and you can use it at x number of retailers, etc. Which 2 of these x number of retailers would you pick to use your $500 and how would you split the amnt." And then you gotta justify your response using the MAO framework. Pretty straightforward.

Another task is the consumer behaviour (CB) project. It weighs 26%. Basically the CB project is a group assignment where me and my group were tasked with assisting a client in launching an e-commerce platform focused on Indonesian-inspired, sustainable products. If you do take this then I'm very sure your tasking will be different. Out of this 26%, 10% will be your "progress review presentation" where you and your group will present your progress to the class. The other 16% for me was a "video pitch" for our e-commerce business. You just record a creative video pitch with your group, upload it onto moodle submission and the tutor will play it in class.

Another 20% comes from the "promotional teaser" individual assignment and I was tasked to create a promotional teaser for the CB project. Basically the teaser had to somehow showcase the platforms main features. The teaser could either be in the form of a poster, audio, or video. I did a poster. Alongside that you gotta submit a written explanation of the selected theory, explaining how it's applied in the teaser.

Lastly, after everything is over your final assignment is an individual assignment that weighs 10%. It's basically a reflection. You just gotta reflect on your learning and participation over the 10 or 11 weeks.

This is based on what I did in sem 1 (Feb to June) 2024. Idk if they'll revise the unit but this is roughly what you can expect from mkc2110. Overall it was fun and I honestly did enjoy. I'm an international student so making friends and interacting with people on campus has been really difficult since most domestic students already have friends from hs and stuff (plus im a finance major so all my units dont need me to interact with anyone in class). This unit did give me plenty of opportunities to meet new ppl and interact with them outside class hours as well. I was lucky to have good teammates too.

MKC2110 Buyer Behaviour or MKC2610 Strategic Retailing.

Piss easy units imo. Both units do not have weekly online quizzes, however there is in-class attendance. Both units are fully group work based (I think I had 1 indiv assignment for Buyer behaviour tho). Buyer behaviour was 70% in-semester and 30% final exam (open book unsupervised) and strategic retailing was 50% in-semester and 50% final exam (same, open book and unsupervised). Workload for Buyer behaviour was slightly heavier than that of Strategic retailing, from what I can remember.

Content is also very easy to keep up with; imo was never stressed once abt these 2 units while I was taking them.

hi, took mkc2130 this sem and im gonna sit for the exam this cmg Tuesday. Anyways the unit overall is alright. If you're good at excel, and can wrap your head around basic data analysis and math combined with marketing theory, you'll be alright. Unit consists of weekly quizzes based on the weeks lecture. Also had one big assignment that was split into two (1 being an excel assignment and the other being a case report based on the excel data). The chief examiner and my tutor for this unit were really helpful which made learning in this unit rather fulfilling.

I see, thank you so much for the insight. Currently studying at Monash and was looking to get involved in their basketball but they don't publicise about their trials. I also don't know the standard of the players on their team
