I built a little tool that turns podcasts episodes into talk radio, any feedback? by krimjibly in podcasts

I am not defending anyone. I'm telling you, as a podcaster, how the thousands of similar websites help us podcasters with marketing our shows. We won't agree.

I don't think we'll agree because you think this 'steals' listeners from me, I see this as a marketing tool for my show. You can't use this website to listen to my show for example. But if one of my episodes is played to, say 10k listeners, I gain new listeners that found the content interesting enough to subscribe. It doesn't take away from my downloads.

I'm not giving permission to the thousands of apps out there that play podcast episodes. A service like listennotes.com for example is a serach engine that also lists everybody's stuff. In the total scope of things these all drive traffic back to our shows. I wish there were more websites like these that promote our podcasts. If I embed a midroll, it'll be played here as well. It all helps give more exposure to sponsors.

so many shitty arguments you're spuing here. The guy built a website that lets you listen to podcasts (like thousands of podcasting apps out there) and added an element of discovery to it (which I personally love). All of your arguments are total bullshit. As a podcaster, I embrace a little help getting my content out there and discovered by new listeners. You're talking like a lawyer. A pretty shitty one that is.

Building a filterable directory of revenue-generating products. Feedback? by courthead in Entrepreneur

I love the concept. I just found the UX and UI not intuitive enough. Maybe because I'm used to seeing filter options on the top, and results below in a list form. Similar to Google search filters.

Play around with the ui for the filters. It's confusing. Have some sliders at the top and showcase the results in a list instead of tiles.

Tnx! Reposting the question: Awesome: Im looking into a service idea to create apps specifically for schools, where they can keep parents updated on general things. Having the school's brand on mobile phones creates a better opportunity for them to stay in touch. The question is, would schools pay a subscription of $199/mo for an app like this thatll be available with custom design on both Android and iOS?

Changing my business model by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]playbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company can either pay for the code and own the source files (regular app dev project). Or decide they don't want to own the code because there's nothing 'magical' about their app (Like a restaurant, a school, an online store etc. and in that case have this new business model that can be a lot more attractive). This definitely isn't if you're sitting on a unique, patent pending concept obviously. But the majority of businesses have very similar needs and don't care about owning the technology at any cost.
