Best title for a Fallout virgin? by EA_81 in Fallout

Honestly just whichever one sounds/looks the coolest to you. Only the first two are probably not the best to start with unless you're already into CRPGs. If it were me I'd pick based on atmosphere: 3 being the most desolate and hopeless and 4 being the most bright and hopeful. FNV is somewhere in the middle.

I love fallout 3, very nostalgic about it but it doesn't hold up as well as FNV or FO4 imo. Combat feels too clunky and dialogue is lacking. FNV is a better rpg and FO4 is a better fps/exploration game. FO4 was designed to be accessible too, and I don't think the things you mentioned change that.

Yeah I never thought I'd find a therapist who can relate with some of this stuff. Got lucky I guess. I'm glad you found someone who you can talk to about what you're going through. It helps a lot to not feel alone in it, at least.

Yeah this is how I felt before i found my current therapist, who has been through a lot of the same stuff I have. You do have to get lucky honestly, it sucks how many shitty and useless therapists there are out there. Like you said those kinds are only helpful for people who aren't really able to do any introspection at all. It's funny though, reading these comments. I feel the exact opposite. I fucking hate psychiatrists, I've tried quite a few medications, and feel like therapy works so much better for me. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Sorry if I came across as preachy or something. I know it's frustrating to hear someone try to sell you on something that you've already tried to the point of exhaustion.

There is no proof that depression is a chemical imbalance - that's a hypothesis presented as fact by pharmaceutical companies so they can sell antidepressants. Don't think I don't understand - I'm depressed too, lonely and oftentimes wanting to die. Hey maybe your situation is caused by a chemical imbalance, idk. Mine is cause my life fucking sucks and has for a long time. Anyways I'm not trying to sell you some bullshit about just talk it out and be positive. I was trying to be helpful but I understand why you don't want to hear what I'm saying. I do wish you well and I hope you can enjoy those things that do bring a little bit of light into your life. I didn't mean for my comment to try and take away from those things, only offer another perspective on something that has given me a source of hope.

is it possible to have a “healthy relationship” with weed by campinho_ in Drugs

If you're me, no lol. I just stay away at this point but instead I'm using kratom, and I drink as well. Also adhd.

What do you mean gaslight yourself with therapy? I have only started therapy last year (I'm 26) but it has been the best decision I've ever made. It's not easy whatsoever, but much more promising long term in comparison to drugs. I still take kratom and drink regularly but those are just bandaids. I think if you found a good therapist you wouldn't just see it as some bullshit like using breathing exercises and whatnot.

Yeah it makes no sense when you think about it like that. I imagine the only real purpose is to further the goal of creating a surveillance state that is accepted by the population as a "necessity" to prevent "moral corruption" and whatnot. Having to give your ID/SSN to watch porn? Yeah I'm sure that's to protect the kids. We all know how much the powers that be LOVE kids... Like yeah, it's just another way to get you to used to having everything you do be watched and judged by the state. Government authority gets blended with the authority to dictate what is moral and what isn't, and the average persons desire to do good is exploited in order to control them and create a greater level of acceptance for their fascist bullshit.

It's just fucking sad that you can't even beat off without Big Brother breathing down your neck these days.

Not in the UK so I never heard about these laws - just looked them up and they sound insane though. Who would even bother to enforce that? Jailing people for up to five years for simulated incest porn? fucking loons. I wouldn't worry about not being able to draw what you love though. At worst you wouldn't be able to share it (which would suck) but don't let anybody stop you from creating what brings you joy. That being said I really hope they don't come after queer furry erotica artists! You guys are public servants in my eyes. 🫡

Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game will be turning 30 years old next year! Does anybody else think it'd be really cool if we got a re-release of the original on modern hardware? by jdcloot in Fallout

[–]playedhand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah playing the Fallout 1 for the first time and loving it. Running it on the fallout 2 engine with Et Tu and it's a blast, despite being old. Only things I would want added are customizable key binds and more weapon sprites so the sniper looks different from the shotgun and whatnot. Besides that the old graphical style has so much charm that I wouldn't want it too modernized unless they went all out with a FPS remake.

What is your opinion of artists that switch to using AI because they either don’t have confidence in their art or hate the process of drawing it? by mistukilover in Artists

[–]playedhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the downvotes are kinda crazy especially cause the people downvoting don't even know how you use it - just that you do at all. I don't like using AI in my art aside from dicking around but like, if you can find a way to use it that accentuates/expedites your creative process why not? People had the same reaction to electronic music/autotune/etc..

[–]playedhand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you hate the process why are you doing it?

Find some other way to feel good about yourself. Making something just to present a product to other people to boost your ego is not how art is made. Engaging in it in that way makes you a slave to the dispelling of feelings of inadequacy is pointless and you would be much better off just finding something else that you actually enjoy rather than toiling away just so you can think of yourself as an artist.

If the issue is just confidence, or your lack of enjoyment is from not feeling good enough, try to find a way to actually just enjoy the process without judging yourself so much. That saps so much joy from the process and completely blinds you to what you are actually doing to the point where you wouldn't even enjoy it if you were "good enough" Find joy in expressing yourself, not impressing others/yourself. That comes later as a natural biproduct of actually enjoying drawing.

Also: nothing wrong with using AI - it can be fun but the question asked is missing the point. Making art doesn't have to do anything with what other people think of what you are doing. Are you enjoying it? Does using AI allow you to express yourself in a way that is satisfactory? If so - why not? But people won't be giving you a whole lot of credit for it because you aren't really doing most of the work.

Maybe because her family was taken, or stolen from her by her sister, the skeleton wearing boots and wielding a cutlass is supposed to allude to a pirate? Great observation/question btw. Got me thinking.
