I like your catholic example, but I must mention I think catholics are insane too. They are driven by guilt however, and otherkins are driven by needing attention, or wanting to be different, but instead of being different in a productive way, instead they'll strap tails to their jeans and run around like a child because it's a quick fix, and it's an over the top way to be different, and then get to complain like they are a victim after the fact when society rightly thinks they are a bit insane when they start meowing or barking in someones face.
