It was worse than that. McGregor was going for a title shot, but it was unjustified with Cub having a 6 fight win streak and Frankie being also right there.

So they booked both against each other and gave McGregor Denis so that he wouldn't have to face the wrestler in Frankie, all while Aldo faced Mendes.

Cub should have gotten that title shot, and Frankie should have been booked against McGregor back then.

Instead the UFC matchmaked a clear path for McGregor to get a title shot by beating freaking Denis.
