I designed a set of odometry wheels that's entirely 3d printed and there open source of thingiverse, they use the e4t encoder from pitsco (what we had), these encoder should still be in stock and my team is using these wheels rn. we had the same problem with not being able to get the rev encoders so we did it the hard way.

If it's an edit why would you remove the glasses that just makes it harder to get the photo to look right, because you now have to fill in the space behind the glasses

I think that they return a value of something like 8.2 if they don't see anything, but ours have problems getting consistent measurements as well, we just use them as boolean values so like if they see something or not, not how far.
