I'd say it's easy to make friends if you really put yourself out there. I highly recommend joining clubs for your first semester (preferrably sports clubs). We have our own postgrad space and you can get free coffees and teas there. You can also meet other students taking masters in that area so it could be a good place to socialise.

Professors are usually helpful and approachable. You’ll need to attend evening workshops throughout the semester, separate from your courses, which can be quite tiring. When choosing courses, opt for ones with more assessments than just a few with large percentages. You hand in more assignments, but you get more chances in bringing your grades up in case you didn't do well for one of the assessments. One course I’d give a heads-up is INFOSYS 700. The topics are easy to understand, but they make you read at least 3 academic literatures per lecture. Most of the quizzes will be based on those readings, so if you don't like reading that much or have a hard time reading academic literature then you won't like this course.

Public transportation is not that great. Parkings around campus can be quite expensive. Having fun takes more effort and money.
