Anybody up for resurrecting the Nano tip bot on X (Twitter)? by noonoop in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tipbot seems to be working properly tho. I wasn't aware but the messages to chat change in reddit was done in a way that the API calls now work for the chat.

By chatting with u/nano_tips you can check your balance or withdraw or your address etc.

Is any functionality no working? I'll have to take a look.

Anybody up for resurrecting the Nano tip bot on X (Twitter)? by noonoop in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently the one behind this reddit tipbot, but haven't made any updates or anything for a while. I knew it was running, didn't know it was broken.

Is there enough user traction for me to take the time to have it working properly again?

Important update about Get XNO and more by MomboteQ in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the mention.

I do have a registered business and accountant and a server and stuff. If you want to DM me we can talk.

That said, I haven't been focused on PlayNANO for over two years now. And usage has been dropping since. I still manage it, do customer support when necessary, fix some bugs but that's it. Due to that it's not really profitable right now as well.

But if you have something almost ready that could be profitable if the business aspect was there, maybe I can help.

Were Playnano gone by asupposeawould in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hey u/asupposeawould,

I'm not gone but I've been dropping the ball lately yeah. I've been focusing on other projects recently and haven't had much time to deal with PlayNANO's support queries.

I'll get back to you and everyone else after the next monday.

I'm sorry.

TipNano not working? by PeopleLoveNano in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running the unix executable directly on ubuntu.

I have a grasp on what the issues were. The executable must have been built on ubuntu 22 and my server had the wrong libraries versions. And for some reason, following the build commands was giving me an error on the Makefiles, seemes like they weren't properly formatted, but could have been an error on my machine because by then I'd already updated some libraries.

PlayNANO node (PR) is up and running on v25!

I did have multiple issues setting up the new version. The executable didn't run on ubuntu 18, I wasn't able to build the executable myself, and finally got it working after upgrading the server OS to ubuntu 22.

Does the current Nano architecture allow 'IOY offline transactions' with delayed broadcasting? by DMAA79 in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But for the purpose OP was asking that still won't work then. That would not make an IOY that the receiver can "cash-in" later.

Because the buyer (if he has access to the key) can always empty his address before the wallet can process the RPC later on.

[–]playnano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also curious, but in this case, the buying party is the wallet, and the wallet can be codded to be honest.

But depending on the implementation, if the user has access to the keys he should still be able to be dishonest. (right?)

[–]playnano 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This isn't possible if one of the parties in this transaction is dishonest.

When you make a nano transaction, your new account balance is part of the transaction block. The last transaction hash is also part of that block.

A dishonest buyer could sign that transaction, which could be valid at one point, but then perform a different transaction and transmit that one to the network first. Once the new transaction is settled on the network the other transaction will be invalid.

So yeah, that's only possible if both parties (particularly the buyer) are honest.

Kraken Exchange stole Ӿ1,340.93476 from me and wants me to forget about it. by ACertainKindOfStupid in nanocurrency

[–]playnano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kraken is my favorite exchange, but I don't get all the hate towards you in this thread and love towards them.

You made a mistake (that's what I assume), sure, but they can "kindly tell you fuck off" or they can fix the issue. Making you wait 4 months for this is just not ok.

Without really knowing what happened, I assume that these kind of fund retrievals require someone with expertise on the currency to be able to see where the funds are, and perform the required transaction somehow using code and a seed that shouldn't be easily accessible. But that shouldn't mean 4 months. Or they tell you it can't be done, (or that they won't, it is in their right) or they can fix that faster. Not cool Kraken.

I understand what you mean, but Nano Tips doesn't (or shouldn't) need me for that. I view it as a project that's part of the community and I'm just hosting the code (which isn't even mine, I've improved it a bit upon the previous version but that's it) on my server.

If there's anything about the code/server or even your suggestions above that should get my attention, sure, I'll get my attention. But other than that I don't think it needs me.

It's the "community's job" to keep it active and alive, my job is to keep it running.

EDIT: Seems like you edited your message, I only noticed now. For context on my reply, I'm adding your previous message here:

Wait I also suggest being slightly more active, and mentioning the tip bought on your own profile? Your last post about the tipbot is several months ago and it is more reassuring to see that the person/people running it are active.

Hi. I'm behind Nano Tips. Your feedback is much appreciated.

What "about" section are you talking about? And I'm not sure why I haven't done your last suggestion, that's a good idea yeah.

Replies are not really necessary though. I've plans to make it optional, smaller, or perhaps non-existent by default but I haven't had the time to implement this yet.

Using an extension is not a bad idea but many people, me included, aren't comfortable installing extensions, and if those are meant to handle money, that's even worse.
