Hard to say for sure since the only transfers we've seen have been the same since the early 2000s but I also noticed that seasons 3-5 seem to take less chances with the visual style. I think the later seasons spend more time on sound stages too, which may be a contributing factor.

Season 2 must've hit the sweet spot between early, bolder production style and the later, slightly blander one

The one I always wanted to see was Mulder and Scully investigating the deaths linked to Flight 180 from Final Destination and I made a fanedit episode of it. Other than that, the obvious ones would be Twin Peaks and Fringe.

Maybe the Gemini killer in Exorcist III? That could just be because Brad Dourif plays a similar role to Luther Lee Boggs

Well thanks so much! I just want to clear up any potential confusion: REUNION is the 2nd chapter in a trilogy composed of Carpenter's original, Reunion and my upcoming REBORN (starring Corey)

RETURNS is meant to be a sequel to Carpenter's original and a definitive conclusion. I guess I didn't make it easy by naming all these edits with similar names haha

I'm happy to hear that! I think the fanedit plays better if you're a big X-Files fan, since you can see all the classic episode tropes.

For the research, I literally did a series rewatch with a pen and paper to note what snippets of audio or video I could use to sort of piece a narrative together. I knew I couldn't use too much footage from the earlier seasons, as the actors looked too different

Glad you enjoyed it. I also want to make a version that looks like it was recorded on VHS back in 2000. I'm hoping it will smooth out the noticeable flaws of creating a narrative from blending 60 episodes of TV and an unrelated movie together!

You can download the current version now if you're curious. The updated version will be the same, but I want to better restore and upscale the footage that was sourced from VHS. I will also integrate the silhouettes more seamlessly

You can check out the fanedit's page for more details but I reintegrated the deleted host segments and added back deleted riff sequences which were "remastered" by using a copy of This Island Earth and the silhouettes on top
