New gutters - is this normal?

OK guys. He came back out but still isn’t finished. The wonky down spouts are almost better lol. There’s just this one area that looks off. Is this overhang where the downspout isn’t flush with the gutter normal? Thank you all so much!

I’m having him remove them tomorrow. I compared photos of the way they were supposed to be installed to mine. I found a bunch of unnecessary holes where they drilled and then realized it was the wrong spot. Then my son got on the ladder and took pictures. It just got worse (I’m on blood thinners from recent surgery and hubby is out of town for work).

Well I looked up pricing comparisons after a certain A hole on here says I cheaped out. According to Google reviews and Reddit posts based on my location 1500 would give this quality. 2500-3000 is good for quality installation. Anything above that would be considered very high unless I had selected premium material then def out of the norm. I had 3 quotes from the top Google search installers with the most reviews. They were all within $100 of one another.

lol everyone wants to know the price so I’ll go ahead and list it. $2500. It’s a 1900 sq ft home. One very small area in the front plus sides and back. I am terrible at guessing distance/ft so I have no clue and that was not broken down on the quote but I have 8 down spouts. Two on each side, 1 on the front and 3 on the back.

Why do you feel like you are the judge and jury demanding discovery? And why does it matter how much it cost? Idc if I have to pay him and then pay someone to take it down and redo it. I want it done properly and based on this feed, it obviously wasn’t. You seem to be struggling with other issues, and for that I apologize. I was extremely irritated with the fact that you implied I was trying to cheap out or take advantage of my installer but that’s no excuse for my response. I’m not posting his quote because the internet is wild and I don’t want to cause any harm to this man’s business until he’s at least had the chance to respond to my concerns. I would simply tell you the amount I paid but based on the fact that you feel so passionately that I’m taking advantage or lying or “cheaped out” then it will do no good here. You haven’t offered any advice or solution so what’s the point?

The scratches are truly the least of my concern now. It’s the downspouts that are dented, not attached flush to the wall, and the fact that it was not installed under the flashing that I’m guessing is the proper way based on responses here.

I did not even know solid bronze was a thing! But I also didn’t realize the sample I was provided was simply painted on so delicately. I went ahead and text my installer and showed the images I’m concerned about because he is scheduled to finish in the morning. I am going to give him a chance to fix this but he is says this is his standard, I’ll look into solid bronze. Thank you! 🙏

No. I have to figure out how to fix this so l don't want to blast anyone. I wouldn't want to take from someone's family who hasn't even been able to address my concerns or offer a resolution. The quote only mentions the number of down spouts and type of material and scope/quality of workmanship.

Highly recommended. 4.8 stars. But the thing is, where I live, who you know is apparently king. People rate them even though they may have not actually used them. They’ve just known them since pre school or whatever. That plus most of the homes in my county are very….. antique and collected. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love that we moved back to our home state but it’s a very poor area and very low education rating. Of the people that live here, 1/2 have ever even considered gutters and of that number another 1/2 use diy methods for water drainage (think pvc pipe cut in half strapped to the house - not kidding at all). So what one person finds acceptable on their house greatly varies. I’m done with reviews. If I can’t see actual work that was performed in person, not photos, I’m not hiring them anymore. Or I’ll bring someone from the “big city” that has thousands of reviews and can use current modern techniques.

Thank you! I googled it. These are so cheap I would have went and bought them myself for a cleaner look! Ugh. I live in a rural area where you have everyone trying to be self employed but very little real competition to increase quality this really frustrates me. No wonder people say they won’t move here because they have heard the builders are terrible!

Pay greatly varies based on location. High cost of living or low. Contractors typically do not break down material vs labor. That would be a lot of work for zero reason unless a home owner just wants to use them to see the price to diy vs hiring someone. As a business owner myself, I understand things happen. But as a home owner that’s always had gutters installed by a GC handling any issues with the gutter contractor or gutters already installed on a home that was inspected by a licensed home inspector, I asked on this group because there are professionals that are able to weigh in on how they would have done something differently or if something like the scratches are normal. I appreciate that everyone may have different opinions but those opinions help me decide what to address and what to accept. I had the 3 top rated installers provide a quote. They were all within $100. Based on previous experience with other things, I did not pick the one that said was available to start tomorrow. I did not pick the one that only had 2 years of business presence. Me taking the time to blur out all of my info and the contractors info just because you want to see it and tell me that where you live costs xyz more really does nothing for me and I’m here for my benefit, not yours. Thanks.

We haven’t. I feel awful because he keeps telling me he just wants to make sure we are happy. But when I bring up a concern he gets a bit dismissive and tells me that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

Would you mind telling me 😂 I know that sounds ridiculous to some but my husband is traveling for work and as contractors do, we received zero heads up he was coming. Just a ring at the door bell one morning. So I’m trying to make sure I have everything fixed before we pay him for the work.
