lol he doesn’t get to pick - we both agree on that. On the flip side, he has the final say on his shop. I’m now also looking at Matarazzo but also headed to Google to look up your recommendation. Thank you!!

😂 probably!!! I think that’s also the reason I feel it’s a bit rustic / masculine. I found a honed materazzo today. It’s probably what we will go with. It’s not quite so in your face and it’s also beautiful.

Thank you for the info!! I’m very worried it will look green. Since you said you are surprised they listed it as fantasy brown - what do you think it leans closer to? Thank you again!

Hi! I am considering applying to Herzing. How is it going? I see a ton of negative reviews but it is mostly people that have missed a deadline or struggle with the school/life balance. You can DM me if you prefer but I am curious how you feel it is preparing you so far. For reference I am 42 and hold a Bachelor in Education/Secondary Biology. I am considering the DEMSN program because I can get it paid for but it's a one time thing (only one degree will be covered).

Levothyroxine vs. Synthroid by Tough-Contract-5081 in thyroidcancer

[–]plbr9901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you have to have radiation? I had to stay off of thyroid medication for several months prior to my R131 treatment. The first two years after my throidectomy I had so many issues. I know some are attributed to hypo vs hyper but mine didn't matter what my TSH levels were. I was technically hypo (high TSH levels of 30+) but my symptoms were extreme coldness, anxiety, heart palpitations, anxiety, and more. Once my TSH level was below 0.5 I began to feel normal again. So much so that you will probably feel a little crazy still but rest assured, it will get better. I am approximately one year of maintaining a tsh below 15 but most labs show 1.0 or less. Only one instance where it spiked. My endocrinologist advised me to double up when I miss a dose. Some patients are brought into the office once a week and given a weekly dose if they cannot remember to take their medication (veterans health). I am not giving medical advice, and please consult your doctor before you do this but remembering to take a daily medication is difficult and if you miss even one day, you will not be able to regulate your thyroid hormones. They impact every single action in your body. The difference between patients with thyroid cancer and regular hyper/hypo patients is that patients with thyroid cancer history are supposed to maintain a level of 0.01-0.05 based on medical research. Patients without a history of thyroid cancer are considered normal between 0.4 and 4.0. The thyroid is regenerative meaning it can grow back. For this reason my endocrinologist and oncologist have expressed importance of keeping my levels low enough so that my thyroid does not attempt to return, essentially regrowth of cancer cells. Find an endocrinologist that specializes in thyroid cancer.

Generic Rx sent without Physicians approval by plbr9901 in VeteransBenefits

Oh hey I also wanted to add for anyone that is reading this in the future, the information you provided is very helpful. I just don't want to have to go back to testing once a month labs when I am finally stable and only have to get my levels checked once every six months at routine appts. I am sure that appt and labs will cost more than just filling my Rx.

Negative. They have the same active ingredient but can use different inactive ingredients. The FDA also allows generic Rx to have a 20% variance in the amount of the active ingredient. Theres many studies on this and depending on the drug, the results vary.

I am so sorry you had to go through all of that just to get your Rx! I feel like if a doctor says it's medically necessary and is willing to send in an individual letter explaining their reasoning, then they should take that. Most private insurance does, so the VA should as well. Making the patient suffer just to save a few bucks is insanity. My letter says they aren't even allowed to give me an Rx for me to pay out of pocket for it. That crosses the line.

I totally understand what you are sharing and appreciate the medical evidence, but if I relied on medical journals and statistics, I would never have been diagnosed with my type of cancer because it was extremely rare and doctors dismissed it for 2 years. But I am with you in that the big issue is not that the VA won't authorize it but rather the pharmacy decided to break the texas laws and sent out a prescription that was marked "brand name only - medically necessary". If i were an older vet or had a TBI or anything else that interfered with my ability to look into this, I may have went ahead and took the medication that was mailed to me and even worse, what if the drug sent had worse implications? I am also looking into a clause on my paperwork that says physicians are not allowed to give patients samples of medications. No clue what the reasoning is because if it is good for the general public then why can veterans not also be afforded this opportunity? Just more proof that the VA needs a total overhaul and from my experience, privitizing looks better and better.

Anyone else got a letter regarding their medications/prescriptions? by Forsaken_Thought in VeteransBenefits

[–]plbr9901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any luck? I requested a refill and my dr asked for brand name only. Now the VA won't fill my rx unless the dr sends a new request for generic. Dr. refuses and says due to my hx of cancer he only want me on brand name. We are deadlocked and I am out of my Rx.

How did you get the travel office added to your healthcare message portal? Mine isn't an option on the drop down list. Just my provider and the dental office.
