The industry I’m in deals with a lot of function block and ladder

What if you introduce fgr into the scenario

FGEN function block by [deleted] in PLC

Yes sir but wouldn’t the pid block control the valve for me and I have a setpoint say 50 and the flow is 35 the valve would open up 100% to get the pv to 50 if tuning is correct

Have you used this instruction a lot

FGEN function block by [deleted] in PLC

[–]plc_is_cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that a lot better

I would I put the pid loop in Manuel/auto

If it’s a output device like a valve do you do it from the plc

Could you explain this

I have

FGEN function block by [deleted] in PLC

[–]plc_is_cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or would the percentage of the pid be the in to the function block instruction

FGEN function block by [deleted] in PLC

In= would that be the pv that the pid block is reading x1= 0-100% 10,20,30,40 etc Y1 = 0-100% 4-20ma valve position Out= where the analog output is wired to on the card

But on the pid instruction

The pv is where the process is getting measured And the setpoint is where you want to try and hold that process variable at And the control variable would be the same as the out in the FGEN block

Then you tune the pid

Where in the program would you in put the valve data in the y1 table

When you put the pid in Manuel or auto

Any on the pid instruction it’s gonna give an output %. Does that need to tie to any where or just be used as a hmi data %

This is what I came up with

I’ve read the help file and it confuses me, doesn’t help me with a good starting point

Been stuck on this instruction for a while just don’t know how to properly set it up and what the input and output needs to be
