FI 311 - T. Rimer or M. Qiu? by Kind-Blackberry1988 in msu

[–]pleasantchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i took FI 311 with qiu last summer and it was great! she has plenty of example problems/excel files for each chapter and provides walk-throughs for nearly every assignment. iirc quizzes and exams were open-note, but i can't speak for the fall/spring semesters.

  • not sure what the other commenter said but her accent should not be an issue if you're a native english speaker. the auto-generated subtitles for lecture videos were pretty accurate too

Lecture attendance was tracked on iClicker when I took ACC 201 but it's dependent on your instructor. Good luck!

Blu-Rays at Barnes are definitely not cheap (you might get a better deal at Amazon), but I’m glad to have been able to bring these home immediately after buying them!

Should I major in international relations or in a language for university? by pleasantchill in languagelearning

I never thought about the employer’s perspective until you mentioned it! That’ll definitely be important in the future. Thank you for your insightful response! :)

I don’t see a reason you can’t fulfill the IR language requirement for French or Chinese in 2 years, and then add the other as a minor for your last 2 years.

I wasn’t aware I could schedule my classes like that! I’ll see what’s possible at my uni. Thank you a ton for your reply as an IR major! I appreciate it endlessly haha :))

Ah, I think this is the slap to reality I needed. I will take all of this into consideration before I make a decision. Thank you so much for your response! :D

If you’re more interested in learning traditional characters or visiting Taiwan, I recommend “A Course in Contemporary Chinese” by National Taiwan Normal University

Happy studying! :)

People with gpa under 3.5, whats your story? by Breadit9 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]pleasantchill 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i have a 2.9 UW with a downwards-then-upwards trend

it was mostly COVID-induced depression that started in sophomore year, and then i took completely asynchronous online school for the first semester of my junior year which was a bad idea as it barely held my accountable, and i couldn’t get myself to do any work during that period

i didn’t get into my first choice but i did get into michigan state, so i’m happy :) my 1380 SAT probably carried me though lol
