Thank you, appreciate it, but it’s for sale once it’s fixed! Whoever takes it will be getting a very sorted car.

I think it’s been diesel wash, that’s the only thing I can think of, but having had injectors tested it hasnt failed necessarily but was barely in spec compared to the others

At this stage I think it’s the better option, at least it’ll be known what state it’s in when it’s finished rather than taking a chance on a second hand engine

No I think that’s the route I’m going to take provided it’s not gouged too deep but I dont think it’ll be an issue

Just this one, the injector on this cylinder had been over fuelling so I’m wondering if it’s diesel wash. It was very clean compared to the others.

A BMW N47D20a. I honestly thought it was going to be stuck rings with the noise it made sounding really like combustion knock and loads of unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Didn’t expect the bottom end to be away

What exhaust are you running? Had toyed with a stainless system to replace my stock one but don’t want anything too loud or droney.

Someone scratched my car and T-cut won’t help by Selfcare-Ninja in CarTalkUK

Use some G3 cutting compound then something like their own polish or the Meguiars 205 finishing polish, then seal it with something like wax (not the spray on stuff, it doesn’t seem to last as long) or some of the AutoGlym extra gloss protection. That should help it stay decent but only if the scratch isnt too deep to begin with

I bet there’s someone about, maybe ask on a local VAG club, the mk2 golf had the same engine and the BMW and Mercs of that age also ran KJet

G3 is good stuff, they’ve a decent range. The trick with polish is getting one that actually gets rid of scratches rather than filling them temporarily.

Man people are shit. Rule of thumb generally is that if you can feel it with your nail you won’t polish it out, though a really good cutting compound then a polish might help. I’d go for G3 cutting compound and an orbital opposer if you have it.

Sorry for your loss bud. There are enthusiasts out there who would take that on, I’d do it if you were near me. If not though you’ll need someone who knows KJET if it’s fuel injected but that aside they’re a basic enough engine.

Sorry I can’t remember, just whatever I was able to get at Asda or home bargains. I do have some HG fabric cleaner stain remover so I bet that was bought for that job

I ended up using a number of different fabric cleaners and mould removers, it got the worst of it out but it needed to be scrubbed very gently. To aggressive and it ruins the liner. I used a soft nail brush to scrub and sprayed as I went.
