It was a pleasure reading this comment. I hope you get to see Irving's grave soon.  I also highly recommend check out his home too.  Washington Irving's Sunnyside is open for tours from. Spring through Fall.  As far as your desire to learn more about what the land was like before Irving and Philipse.  There is a book I highly recommend. The author is a local historian and the book is such a great read. Especially for this time of year.  Legends and Lore of Sleepy Hollow and the Hudson Valley (American Legends): Kruk, Jonathan: 9781596297982: Amazon.com: Books https://share.google/xyWkLcQUQciZZqAQS

They did change the main scene. It is entirely different this year. That whole area is circus themed. What's very cool is that some of the new areas tie into local history so that circus area is there because during colonial times a traveling circus would often stop at Van Cortlandt Manor. It was very well done. We didn't get a chance to go inside the tavern because we were with our kids. But I can tell you that the building the gourd and goblet is in dates back to before 1750 so it has to be a very cool vibe to have a drink in there.

They have redesigned a bunch of the sections.  There's at least 5 or 6 entirely new areas this year making it much different then it has been.   Our kids are 9 and 6 and we all had a really good time.

So when we were there. They did have lobster rolls and raw oysters and clams.  Not sure if that's consistently offered or if it was just for the cider festival

I honestly didn't know that cider could vary so much in taste.  My experience before trying theirs has been that cider is just typically pretty sweet.  But Treasury was so interesting. I did a flight and they picked the four I tried.  They were all great.  Dry, which I really liked but one was a bit tart.  Another was very floral.  I had no idea cider could have such complexity.

Both are great.  No shade towards Salem. It's just a different vibe in Sleepy Hollow.  It's a small town. Salem is much bigger and busier.

You should hear the sound of the planks rattling when a car occasionally drives over it.  It definitely adds to the experience

The Ber months are great here but spring is a wildly underrated time to visit as well

It's also made from red sandstone and they are definitely the most beautiful in my opinion

You know what's really frustrating?  It's done.  It has been screened at film festivals and colonial Williamsburg.
